The natural beauty of the reserve is enough reason to visit, but the fact that the most southern point in Africa is located here makes this a must-see if you're in the area. There is a main road (suitable for all vehicle types) through the reserve as well as ample walking paths where you can take in the fresh ocean breeze. It is worth noting that the main walking paths are all wooden platforms and well maintained. During our visit there was no entrance fee, but I am not sure if this is Covid-19 related or if it is normally like this. Unfortunately the lighthouse was still closed when we visited, but hopefully they will open it again soon. With the current Covid-19 situation the reserve is still a great option as you can experience the beauty of the reserve from the comfort of your car.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at the rest camp. The well situated chalet was spacious, comfortably and tastefully appointed. Comfortable king size bed. Stunning ocean views from the chalet and the large veranda. Abundant fynbos and birdlife. A perfect place for peace and quiet. The bonus was really good weather! Friendly, informative and polite staff. Well done Agulhas National Park!

If you want to get away from it all and have a perfect view of the sun setting over the silver sea, give Cape Agulhas National Park a try. SANParks has chalets that sleep two or four, all with ocean views and completely outfitted with grills, glassware, flatware, plates, even a microwave and fridge with freezer. The charming thatched-roofed cabins are roomy--the shower was enormous--and have decks with a table and chairs for afternoon-evening snacks, meals, and cocktails. Be sure to buy whatever foodstuffs and supplies you need before leaving nearby L'Agulhas, because the gravel road to the site can be pretty rough going, so you won't want to drive back and forth too many times. There are a shallow lagoon and sandy and rocky beaches, and a number of hiking trails are marked out as well. We stayed two nights.

Except from the most southern point of Africa and 1 shipwreck, not so much to see in this national parc. The only walking trail available is a boardwalk trail, so very touristy and no adventure at all. We were very disappointed. If you happen to pass by you can have a short stop there, but it is not worth driving extra km's.

The rest camp in cape Agulhas national park has 8 cabins, all positioned on a row with view on the sea. The cabin we chose had a deck, comfortable bedroom, kitchen with all you need and a shower. The rest camp is at the end of a small village, and honestly we didn't have the feeling to be in a national park, we saw people walking with dogs, you're looking from your deck on to people fishing at the shore.. a bit strange.. bare in mind that you've got to bring all your food with you, as no shop at the reception (and no info either, we wanted to ask something about the walking trails, and although we saw people moving inside, the office was closed .. at 3pm ..) so.. for us, ok for 1 night , but no special feeling at all...

This was our first visit to the southern-most tip of Africa. As a fan of SANparks, we chose to stay in the Agulhas National Park. We stayed in the cabins located on the coast a few kms from the Agulhas light house.
Although the National Park is still developing, it is a beautiful part of the world. The camp where we stayed is quite small although one can walk down to the lagoon and beach. The cabins are very well constructed, extremely comfortable and nicely spaced apart. one never feels on top of one another. the views are stunning and sleeping wit the sound of the ocean was magic.
We drove around other parts of the park, which is a bit fragmented and the maps provided by Sanparks not the best. But we found some beautiful Fynbos in flower.
We need to visit again and will spend a few more nights next time.

This fairly new national park - our cottage was only built in 2014 - is the ideal getaway for people who want to get away from all and sit and stare at the sea from a shady porch.
The cottages are well-equipped and pleasantly furnished (the bed is a huge King Size) and are serviced daily - which includes cleaning the portable braai, but not washing dishes.
There are currently 15 chalets in the park, nicely spread out to offer each a sea view (although the view from cottages 8 and 9 are partly obscured) and privacy. With intermittent cell phone reception - but TV signals - this is really a place to "get away from it all".
The reception centre and gate house are still unmanned as the planned move of the Sanparks personnel from Agulhas has not taken place yet.
Fishing, walking along the beach on a wooden promenade, visiting the beacon erected at Southernmost point of Africa, the old lighthouse, Struisbaai harbour with its famous rays that come looking for food scraps, restaurants and shops in Agulhas and Struisbaai etc. offer plenty of alternatives when sitting and enjoying the sea air from your verandah loses its appeal.

Just before getting into the National Park is a boardwalk that takes you to Cape Agulhas (so no entry fee needs to be paid). Car parking is done along the road. This is where the Indian Ocean & Atlantic Ocean converge...well sign-posted.

Struisbaai is a beautiful place and is very much for the quiet loving, peace seeking tourist. Having this in mind, we chose the Bergplaas guesy house, which is situated in a farm are, isolated and far from any nouse or neighbours. Our family enjoyed the space and quiet tremendously. However, the house itself was dirty and grotty...Mould and damp in most rooms, not good if you are asthmatic. The place has not been properly cleaned and turned inside out for months, which resulted in dust and allergies emerging. The bedding was newly put on and clean, but dusty. Paint is peeling oft the rooms and stains are all over. The house currently is not fit to be rented out before some smaller renovations need to be done. The price does not justify the condition of the house. The loft room was fun, but unfit to sleep in during hot weather as it becomes humid, even with a fan. There seems to be a bird infestation in the attic, which woke up the occupants very esrly in the morning. This needs to be controlled! One bathroom does not have glass in the shower stall! Housekeeping is not every day, so request that clean towels be brought as required. Be aware that the house is about 12km on a dirt road, so use a proper vehicle. Cellphone reception is also extremely poor. No swimming at house, so you will have to drive out to Struisbaai, which could take you approx 20 minutes.

There are a number of beautiful thatched cottages available for rental in the park. These are modern, well equipped, great bathrooms and with a stunning desk overlooking a lagoon. There is a high degree of privacy - you feel you are there alone. The view and park if brilliant and the stars at night are awesome. Highly recommended

Hi , We are coming to Cape Agulhas National Park in Jan.,2017 . How are the road conditions over there ? We intent to stay over at the family chalet over there. We would driving a Corolla/mid size Sedan. Would it be a safe ride driving this vehicle up till the accommodation areas in the National Park, as i had read that 5km of the stretch is a gravel road.
Thanks

You will be fine in the Carolla Sedan. The road is gravel and a bit bumpy in places, but not hazardous.

Hi Roger (and others??) Thanks for the review of Cape Agulas. I note that there seem to be four 'rest camps.' In which one did you find these newish chalets? Can you recommend one in particular -- either a particular chalet, or one do the 'rest camps' that contain the better ones? We're planning to go next September.

Hi, we have just stayed in the Cabin/chalets, about 11 kms from the lighthouse. Gravel road from the lighthouse, but good gravel. A bit bumpy here and there, but fine. We stayed
in
Cabin/chalet no 14 and 15, both two people cabins. Overlooking the fynbos and the sea.
Well constructed. Nicely fitted out. Sit on the verandah and have a braai. Watch the birds and the sea. There are several walks in the area if you so wish. Not sure about the other
rest camps. Drive back towards the lighthouse and do the boardwalk waks and see the southern most tip plaque and map of Africa. Climb the lighthouse for a lovely view. Hope this all helps
