If you are travelling the South Island, Milford Sound is a must visit destination. Breath taking views and just beautiful words, hard to describe with words. Do not miss this destination ever, especially not when you have travelled up to Queenstown!

We had an exquisite 2-day visit. A bit windy but mostly clear skies with the beauty of the snow-covered peaks looming everywhere. We self-drove (recommend) and were able to pick and choose from many different stops along the way. Some short hikes, longer treks, and quick photo locations. Stayed a night at the lodge and had a wonderful cruise along... More

We jagged a clear day with plenty of unseasonal snow, this added to the beauty of fiord. Caught the bus from Queenstown and this journey alone was spectacular. We were super lucky with the weather!

Main point: to arrive there before 16h in order not to miss the last cruises. the place is lost but it worthed it: seals, fjords, waterfall and mountains covered of snow....magic For the boat, better maybe to try small boats... the driver may lead you under a waterfall or near the cliffs to sea the seals taking their nap

it is possible to fly, walk, drive or take a bus tour to this wonderland of natural beauty. We chose to take a bus tour as the best option for us. The 4-5 hour drive is far easier with someone else driving each way. At a cost you can take a tour their and fly back to Queenstown. Another option... More

Taken by bus to Milford Sound, we boarded "Pride of Milford" for much of the day. On the way to the Mitre Peak, we observed a number of waterfalls which multiply after rainfall, thanks to the granite of the terrain. However, the day was spent in brilliant sunshine so only the permanent falls remain. Emerging out into the Tasman Sea,... More

The gale-force winds beat against our faces as the Milford Mariner plowed past towering mountains of sheer rock plummeting sharply into the frothing waters. Our trip took us to where this glacier-carved fjord empties into the Tasman Sea. Then back. Along the way we marvel at magnificent cascading waterfalls. We ooh and ahh upon spotting young seals resting on a... More

This is a 'must do' if you get to New Zealand. Find a boat or preferably a ship, and enjoy cruising this amazing place. It gives you an insight into this lovely country and you will be awe inspired.

Our cruise ship spent several hours in the Sound. From the moment you enter the Sound until you leave you will not take your eyes away from the stunning views. We had an expert who spent quite a bit of time on Secretary Island and we were able to obtain all the information as to the Sound. Although the weather... More
