I was amazed that I had never visited this true bastion of Greek history! This is where the Greek revolution began with a declaration and blessing in this church! A truly poignant place in modern Greek history!

Small but perfectly formed. Felt like a spiritual oasis. Wonderful atmosphere to wander into in the older part of Kalamata city.m

We had seen the monasteries already and this was a smaller version of those sites but beautifully preserved they knew how to build. Worth the time to visit and see the tapestries and ornate decoration inside.
Awe inspiring.

Very nice and charming location. We were lucky and it was not crowded at all so we could enjoy this historic place even more :)

Even if only part of the old church remained standing after the 1986 earthquake, this church is also of historical importance to the inhabitants. From here began the liberation revolution in 1821. Every Sunday at 10.30 a.m. the Holy Liturgy is celebrated.

Once destroyed by an earthquake this sturdy little church is little but well worth seeing. It's right next to some lovely coffee bars on the square.

Small but very interesting history to this small place, once the centre of the old town. We learnt about the building’s history in the archaeological museum next door
