As you can see from outside the building is not too big so don't expect a huge exhibition. You can see some drawings and climbing gear (development from the past until today). In addition there is one room which shows a very entertaining short movie about a particular expedition. It was a nice exhibition but one visit is enough.

This is a work of art, but you can soon tell, a work of love for Reinhold Messner, a great Dolomite climber. He carved this out of the top of the mountain and the views are outstanding. Plus the exhibits inside are very intriguing. Only takes about 30 minutes to 60 minutes to look at the exhibits, but it is amazing. The video is excellent too. Plus, the views from the top of the mountain are stunning. Take the Kronoplatz 2000 lift to the top. You won't regret it.

This is definitely a must be place in Kronplatz. It's understandably not very big, but successfully delivering the Montain-Human stories and emotions. Also, it has one of the best panorama balconies in the area.

Every MMM is beautiful, but this has a different feeling, most probably due to the breathtaking location and structure. Thank you Zaha Hadid Architects! This is amazing! You need some extra time so you can fully grasp the meaning of everything that is inside the museum and outside. So many details of mountaineering everywhere you look.
You can take the gondola till up or you can trek. We had attended also an event with Reinhold Messner before the visit. It was amazing! Just imagine yourself a kid who’s about to meet his hero (Yoda, any Marvel hero you wish for, Dumbledore etc…your pick) It was one of the best days of my life. If you are a fan of Reinhold Messner or you just like mountaineering, pay a visit to any of his museums or attend one of his events, you will not regret it. He has a gift for sharing his memoirs..
PS: the visit was in June 2017

This is one of the museums of the Messner Mountain Museum chain. Located on top of Kronplatz less than 5 minutes walk from the bell. If you love alpinism and mountain art this is a right place for you. The building is projected by Zaha Hadid and is very interesting from outside. Wheelchair accessible. There are few outdoor terraces offering breathtaking views on the mountains around, nice place for photos. Very limited choice of museum souvenirs.

Nice to take a break from skiing at Kronplatz to visit and a visually interesting Zaha Hadid designed museum.
But one that is geared to people with a real interest in climbing and are aware of Messner's reputation for climbing every 8000 metre peak without oxygen.

Seeing pictures of people free climbing in long pants in the late 1800's was cool. If you like climbing, this place has photos, paintings, equipment -- all well done. The last entry is at 3:30 PM so you can't wait too late. The last tram down the mountain is at 5 PM.

This super museum and art collection manages to look into the history and future of mountaineering at the same time. A really sweet place to visit and a tribute to mountaineers past and present.

It's more than a simple museum, it's something that touches our sensibility and the visit of this MMM is absolutely not to miss. The architecture of the museum, the touching video and the atmosphere are three of the reasons to go on the top of Kronplatz.

hello. Does cable car heading to MMM Corones run in July? I’m planing to stay in Riscone. And how far from Brunico station to Riscone??

Hello, sorry in advance for my bad English.
If I understood well, you have been planned to move to MMM Corones next July during your vacation planned in Italy somewhere in Tirolo.
Of course, during the summer the "funivia" (cable car heading) is working of sure in July and August probably also from mid June to mid september or more. Riscone is, quite sure, open not the same for the other stations around "Plan de Corones". All are opens in winter for skiing but closed in summer due to low quantity of customers. RIscone is about 5 km far from Brunico. I am quite sure that during the summer there is a pubblic Bus to connect the two sites. Cost of funivia and museum is unknown from me. Just to have an Idea around 20€ for funivia other 10€ for the museum.
As for more knowledge: in Brunico castle, few minutes walking from Brunico rail station, there is another MMM museum. Of course it is not the same for things shown and for environment.
Hoping to gave you the expected answer, have a nice Holidays.
Just one more suggestions If you like walk Dolomites in that area are easily reachable by bus from everywhere. Ask the first tourist office (all the villages have one or more than one) as you arrive.

Grazie

biglietti: adulti € 8,00 bambini dai 6-14 anni € 4,00 prezzo famiglia €18,00

Can you visit for a day? September is our travelling month.

Yes - you will need to get the cable car to the top of the mountain and then it is a 5 minute walk to the museum.
You only need to allocate say half a day to get up, visit the museum and have some lunch on the mountain.
Easiest access from the Bruneck Brunico side. The museum is at 2200 metres above sea level.

Is there a recommendation for a place to stay nearby? We will be traveling from Salzburg, staying a night to visit Corones, and then heading to Innsbruck the following day.
Thank you!
