me and my wife visited saariselka from 28th december 2018 for 5 nights. We were very apprehensive about the weather conditions that we booked 3 activities with lapland safaris to keep the arctic suits with us during the stay at saariselka. We went to the shop on 29th Morning and they gave us the suits, gloves , caps , muffler socks. We kept it for our stay at saariselka. Though the arctic suits which are very heavy were used only for activities but other accessories were extensively used during our stay, temperatures went down to -12 degrees. Now the activities we booked.
1. Northern light hunting: Not a very good experience - not because we did not spot aurora which is a natural phenomenon, the effort on their part was lacking. First by bus is not a good option for aurora sighting. They even did not take us upto Inari .
2. Reindeer Sledging: Good experience. The SAMI man who was our guide for the trip was excellent. Reindeer sledging through the forest area was very nice. The tea and cake at the end was very tasty and much needed after the frozen state we were after the ride.
3. HUSKY SAFARI: The best . The kennel where the took was very beautiful. The dogs pulling the sledge were very strong. Breathtaking layout (frozen lake) where we did the safari.
hot drinks (tea coffee and berry juice) and snacks (cake at reindeer farm and marrie biscuits at HUsky)

Hello! Thank you for your feedback and descriptions of the safaris! Reindeer and husky safafis are our most popular ones. We are happy you enjoyed them! We are sorry to hear you didn´t see the Northern Lights. Inari is known as good place to spot them but changes to see Northern Lights are as good in Inari than a bit more south where our safari was heading. We hope you will get the change to see Northern LIgths in one day!

We came to Lapland Safaris to rent equipment (fat bikes and long skis). The staff went above and beyond outfitting the gear for us and answering our questions. They even let us try the long skis out in the parking lot before committing to a 3-hour rental. I also found the rental rates to be quite reasonable. Really recommend Lapland Safaris for rental gear - the staff know their stuff and are so friendly and professional!

We did 3 trips with them and all were very well organized. From the pick up in our hotel out of Saariselkä, always on time and with a comfortable van. The overalls, shoes, gloves. We did the snowshoe walking in very deep snow, and the girl made it fun with the sliding down hill, the husky safari was excellent organised with the campfire at the end to warm up and safety first with the snow mobiles. We had 4 teenagers with us and we all enjoyed it!

Walt Disney could not have made it more magical.
Two Experiences down and two to go.
Reindeer safari was great made by our guide who told us a lot about the animals, the Sami and Lapland, I would have liked a longer sleigh ride being driven.
Skidoo safari in the late afternoon was glorious. The nature was breathtaking from up on the fells to the start of the Tiger forest.
I would do this again in a heartbeat!
Our guide was great, careful, instructive and friendly.

The 3h husky sledge experience outdid our expectations. We had thought the price was a rip off but we had such a good time that we didn't resent it in the end. Lapland Sarafis gave us all the cold weather gear we needed and drove us to the beautiful farm. The husky’s seemed well treated, the ride was over and hour and so beautiful and fun, the guides really informative. After the ride we had drinks in a warm hut with a roaring fire and met the husky puppies.

We had the best experience ever last night. Our wunderful host Maria took us to a camp in the woods to see the Northern lights, which were amazing! Her passion and cooking skills, together with the explanitory movie made it a memorable moment in our lives. Thank you Maria!

We just returned from Saariselka and Rovaniemi, and WOW! Our guides, Javier and Erno, were fantastic. We went ice fishing, snow mobiling, dog sledding, and snowshoe hiking to search for the Northern Lights. It was unforgettable. Ask for these two guys! And get ready for hot berry juice!

We did the Northern Lights with Javier and it was a very good experience! He put all efforts to find the Northern Lights. He explained us a lot of interesting facts about the phenomenon, the Sami culture, etc. And he took us to visit some igloos too. Very recommended! Javier is an amazing guide.

I Travelled to Lapland with my husband & 2 children last Christmas 2013. We pre-booked the adult snowmobile safari, me & my husband were meant to ride the snowmobiles alongside our children in a sleigh pulled by the guide. Upon seeing the sleigh, we wasn't comfortable leaving our children alone in such extreme temperatures so we decided to just take one snowmobile so one of us could travel with the children and then swap on the way back.
The whole experience was completely rushed when putting on our kit & signing the disclaimer to say were over 18 & had full driving licences. The Briefing was very brief and not at all adequate with regard to the power of the machines. I even had to ask the guide what a particular control was that had been missed.
After 5 minutes I had lost control of the snowmobile, hit a tree and was thrown a considerable distance. I was laying on my back when the guide reached me and he instantly helped me to my feet without first assessing if any injuries has been incurred...(basic First Aid 101). I was then put into the sleigh with my very upset children & the guide then spent 20 minutes assessing the damage and taking photos. My family were completely shaken and left to sit in -30 °temperatures for far to long.
We were then taken back to the shop and the guide went into an office and returned to say “good news” its only going to cost you €970. As our coach transfer home was due within 30 minutes and we still had to check out of the hotel & return our several layers of thermals my husband panicked and paid this under duress.
Even though we were all very shaken up and I was very visibly shaking from the shock, not one member of the Lapland safaris team asked me if I or my family were OK. Disgracefully, their only concern was our credit card details.
The guide assured me they would send me the images & proof of the damage to justify the costs for which I could use for my insurance.
After several attempts to receive this proof it was never sent.Which raises the question of its legitimacy. I also asked for the proof of the guides first aid qualification as his action’s suggested a clear lack of basic knowledge. I complained to our travel operator who also contacted Lapland safaris, they finally responded to our operator but refused any liability they also provided them with a document to say I had refused medical treatment. This document had my signature as it was the document I signed which detailed the alleged damage that I had been made to pay for. The box relating to the refusal of medical treatment was not ticked by myself, I can only assume it was Lapland safari's attempt to cover up their total disregard for customer care.
I am not a complainer and have never before felt compelled to write a review but this was no cheap holiday and we paid to have a once in a lifetime experience only to have this ruined by Lapland Safaris. I would sincerely urge anyone considering booking with this company to think twice you will not be in safe hands!!!

Not recommended for a young family. Travelled with Lapland Safaris in a large group with my children aged 8,9, 11 and 13. Promised by the reps for Santa's Lapland that the trip would last approx. 2hrs with 1 hr drive time on snowmobile and back for Gala Dinner on second night of the Search for Santa 3 day trip. Reps said you would have a warming fire and hot juice at half way point whilst gazing at Northern Lights and listening to local history.

By half way due to severe cold and long delays caused by stop start chain of people most children were crying. Two guides left with the children to get back on a bus whilst rest of group, looked after by one guide were told to run on the spot to keep warm as fire was tiny with 3 pieces of wood and juice cold. No Northern lights, minus thirty degrees and no local history guide. My family were charged 586 euros. We were also asked to push a sleigh out of the snow by the guide who had got it stuck.

Not enough risk warnings were mentioned during welcome evening. Yes we know it is cold but really an evening safari for children is not sensible. Of course without the children going the Lapland Safaris Group would not sell the trip as parents would stay with their children at the hotel. Half the parents complained afterwards as the trip lasted over 3 hours and we missed the Gala Dinner.

We were also told that you can the lights in the local town at certain times so no need to go with the safari group.

Group size too large and not enough staff. We wore their clothes as well as our own plus had handwarmers for everyone. Still the cold got through. Everything was one great sales push by both Santa's Lapland and Lapland safaris. Avoid and save your money!

Hei Simon! Thank you for your feedback on your Northern Lights excursion. We are sad to hear that your experience on the excursion has not met your expectations of the trip. We have taken your feedback seriously. The weather here inside the arctic circle is arctic and creates challenges for visitors from warmer countries. The evening in question was cold, -26 degrees. We are taking steps to ensure that families taking part in the excursion will have more useful information on how to prepare for the excursion in the future. The chance to either experience the excursion full with snowmobiles or to come back by coach from the halfway point has been a welcomed option for families on your excursion and on a few days after, when the weather has been harsh. We hope that the rest of your visit here in Lapland was pleasant and wish you and your family Happy Holidays. Yours Sincerely, Lapland Safaris Management
