A bit disappointing
Nov 2019 • Couples
Too fast explanations, not in English or in slow Portuguese. The guy was not taking care of telling all the processes in a good way. He seems bored and too hectic. No final product taste session.

Excuse me .. were you at Vila Rosa? Yes it is true that the guide only speaks Portuguese... note you arevin Rural Bahia Brasil.. a poor agricultural region.. not too many english speakers in a 1 hour radius.. however there are over 30 signs on the tour in English and portuguese.as well as photos All guests on our tours taste .. Cacau the fruit, the broken nibs , three types of chocolate and mel de cacau .. the pressed juice.. Not even the beautiful gardena , stone poils or acenic trails were worth your time or a star ... I guess we will just have to try garder to please such a discening visitor... thanks for your comentaries we will certainly try harder to please you in the future..

Worth the visit (but only in PORTUGUESE)
Nov 2018 • Couples
Once in the area, you must see the cacao farm and its processes. Vila Rosa is very small, but it provides the full experience. It was raining, and even tough the visit was so much fun. We could taste everything, and really understand how chocolate is made. Too bad they don't have english tours - I had to translate for our group.

expensive and bored stuff and not english
Apr 2018 • Friends
50Real per person (!!!!!) 👎🏻
for this price should the owner Alan Slesinger train his stuff and send them to a language school.
Till today he could not organize a english tour and he is from America 👎🏻

this is very expensive for:
- a 100meter walk in a small cacao- plantage.
- see a small garden of little cacaoplants and
with herbs
- see the restaurant which nobody worked
at 15o‘clock in afternoon
- have a small look in the vila rosa: we saw the
intrance and the living room

Sorry this is just something to earn a lot of money from the tourists.

We do not Recommend!!!!!!!!
Everything we can read on Wikipedia and see a reportage on youtube- for FREE.

Only the free Wifi was something good 👍🏻

It was a great experience! Located In a Beautiful landscape, owner did a fantastic restoration of a early 1900s palace and created a very interesting Cacau tour. Easy to get there too.

Organic cocoa and chocolate
Oct 2017 • Solo
I spent an afternoon at Vila Rosa to see the organic cocoa farm and not only I saw it, but I tasted a lot of products - local produced - made of the cocoa. My favorite (other than the chocolate, of course) was the "cocoa honey" - not easily found, so I can't recommend it enough. :)

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!
Sep 2017 • Friends
We stayed overnight and loved every second! Stunning building with stunning sound effects at night (frogs! haha) and super friendly people. Farm tour was so educational even thought he guide didn't speak English but someone in the group did so we had it all translated haha. Then we needed to get to the city and asked advise...in the end one of the staff just asked if we want to hop on their car as they would be going to the city later. That's like an hour drive. You MUST go there and stay overnight if you can....breakfast is amazing and everything freshly made. You will not forget it for a long time!

Wonderful piece of Brazilian history restored to former glory
Oct 2017
This wonderful fazenda from the cocoa boom at the beginning of the 20th century has been lovingly restored and is an absolute delight. We stayed in the Coronel's room, which was completely charming, comfortable, and with beautiful views. We had the place to ourselves, and the staff cooked wonderful moqueca for us in the evening. We did a little gently kayaking on the small lake behind the house, and saw loads of birds, and swam in the fresh water pools with enormous cacophonous frogs. We did the tour the following day - it was absolutely fascinating, and of course our kids were beside themselves with excitement in the chocolate factory bit. It was a highlight of our trip to Bahia.

Great tour on cocoa farming
Nov 2016 • Couples
We had a tour through the fields and production of cocoa on the farm. Although we did not speed Portuguese it was very interesting and the signs explained a lot. The place is ver lovely restaurated and gives a lot of information on the agriculture of the region!

Interesting and beautiful chocolate farm/factory/house!
Nov 2016 • Family
Vila Rosa is a great experience! I recommend taking the tour - worked fine despite they did not speak English and we don't speak Portugese. Thera are lot's of posters in English and the experience is about the beautiful walk through the chocolate farm and tasting the chocolate in the factory. I also highly recommend having lunch at the restaurang - very fresh food, some of the best we had on our trip.

beautiful place but very touristic
Oct 2016
Located in a very beautiful estate, the house/ pousada is beautiful, and the guide had a lot of knowledge and was interesting (although not in English in spite of the specific request). It is obvious that they produce only in small scales and only for tourism...

Actually the place is an original cocoa farm and manor house... its not a fabricated.. Disneyland place.. How ever our chocolate production is artisanal ... and on a scale for our visitors to enjoy. Not on a comercial scale where you would not have access to the machines. As for language ... the entire tour has signs in English, pictorial and Portuguese. We try our best to help non Portuguese visitors.. Note we are located in rural brasil... there is not a great number of English speakers in the state of Bahia ... much less where the farm is located.. Please understand. Hope you decide to see all the new things that Vila Rosa has to offer on your next trip to Itacare.. Alan - Vila Rosa
