Other reviewers pictures of this beach show clear waters, and people I know say it is usually very pretty. However, due to extreme flooding events in January 2022, the water is muddy looking, and you can't see your feet. There is a lot of silt mixed in with the sand so you are walking offshore in squishy mud. On the other side of the lighthouse where there is not a beach, the water is more clear though. Restaurants and hotels line the beach, but you can sit on front of them near the water if you wish or in a couple of spots between. A handful of vendors selling various foods and goods pass by daily, and a couple of people who do massages for about $R50 ($10 USD) for 30 minutes. (Just get one that has an actual massage chair or table, not a little raft pulled up on the shore.) And lots of restaurants or hotel restaurants that sell food, drinks and beer/liquors.

Since the beginning of our week long stay, I do think the water has cleared slightly (Jan 15, 2022).

Concha Beach lies behind a reef which protects it from the open ocean. It has thus peacefull waters, very suitable for swimming and sup. Small beach line, but well enough for kids to play, walk around, sunbathing, etc. Along the shore there are aprox 10 bars/restaurants, with local food, fish food and the brazilian drinks. All have their covered spaces, music and water front seats; all seem to close end afternoon; after sunset Concha Beach is calm. The area is anyway a calm area. Not to stay a week, but a couple of days helps for a welcome relax. Very friendly people, nice sunset, seems safe.

Really great family beach. Plenty of tables for lounging and having a couple of cold ones! There is NO SURF here so keep moving. Lots of vendors trying to sell their wares. One cool spot is first cabana at bottom of hill you can get three beers for 10 reais! Rock on!

This is a small, beautiful, and often deserted beach especially during lockdown. A great place to get away from it all, read a book, do some exercise, and go for a paddle. I was advised very strongly not to go swimming there because the currents are apparently treacherous.

Heaps of lunch options to choose from. Very friendly staff at all the cabanas we went to. Rock up, sit at a table/banana chair, stay there all day being served beverages and food, swim, hire a kayak/SUP... Do as much or as little as u like. The beach venders can come across as a bit forceful sometimes so just be polite but firm if u don't want the handmade jewelry or henna. But don't be completely closed off from them as some of the stuff is amazing! Definitely worth having the charoal-cooked cheese skewer. Also, just because of the nature of the waterway, the water can be a bit murky with some debris especially if it's just rained because it's right next to the river outlet. There are cleaner beaches but none as easy.

Not enough sand, the water level is rising and the merchants are forced to build retainer walls with wood planks and sand bags. Dirty water. Too many vendors dominate the beach and you are forced to sit in one of the restaurants and consume something just to be able to be at the beach.

It's a really nice beach for anyone that is with family kids. It's the only beach in The area with no waves. The right side in front of the lighthouse is the best for kids.

The water is somewhat calmer here than in most of the other beaches nearby, and the innermost part of the beach (near the lighthouse/farol) has shallow water, which makes it an excellent playground for stand-up surf (talk to Pablo next to Cabana da Ximbica) and swimming.

Good options with regards to beach restaurants. And don’t worry about the ice cream salesperson going anywhere, like they do on most beaches. This guy just found his sweet spot and decided to hang there (surfing on his smartphone), letting customers come to him rather than having to walk around :-P

Easy access (5-10 minute walk) from the Pituba street / city centre.

Itacaré has many beautiful beaches. The most beautiful are only accessible via long trails through the Atlantic rainforest. Four beaches are accessible by road. Three of this four beaches are surf beaches and not suited to swim. Reachable by road –and only 10 minus walk from the town centre - is Concha Beach. The beach is half inside the Rio Conta and half in the ocean. Therefore there are no surf waves and is it the only beach suitable to swim and kids can play in the water. Concha Beach is popular with families. The water is not as crystal clear as the full ocean beaches and the water quality changes depending on the tide and rainfall the days before, as after heavy rain the river brings lots of floating plants from the jungle. Still one can see your feet when up to you neck in the water. Along the beach are restaurants and several activities are offered, such as boat tours and stand up paddling.
