Ornos Beach

Ornos Beach

About
The closest public beach to Mykonos Town, Ornos is a relaxing and convenient getaway with a sheltered bay and shallow waters. Most of the beach is lined with sunbeds for rental—make reservations early to snag a spot, especially during summer. Though if you head away from the resorts, there are small public areas where you can lay out a beach mat. There is no lack of restaurants and bars, and most resorts here offer sea views. It's a popular stop along boat cruises around Mykonos, a great way to explore all the best beaches of the area. – Tripadvisor

    Too Crowded and Small
The beach is small and not much to do there. Very few fish to see with your snorkels. The beach was very crowded and of course you have to rent at tourist prices the lounge chairs. Lots of boats park right in front so dont think you will be swimming too far either.

    Beautiful views
The views here were absolutely beautiful and the main reason we decided to go to the beach while visiting Mykonos. I would not say the sand and water were anything exceptional, and it was on the crowded side. It was also very windy when we were here, but we spent a little time in the water and enjoyed the view!

Quiet beach with great beach lounge chair rentals. Restaurants nearby. Recommend.
Really enjoyed our visit to this beach. We rented the most comfortable beach lounge chairs with umbrella 15 euros per lounger. Nice service as well. Ordered cappuccino. Be ready for people walking around selling jewelry, linens, and other items such as massage.

    Ornos beach in Mykonos
Pleasant atmosphere for family and kids, although quite crowded in this season. The beach is completely taken by private loungers that can go between 70 to 90 euros. Additionally, we ordered a bucket of drinks, but the restaurant charged us for the entire bucket even though we didn’t consume all of it. On our way back to the hotel, the restaurant arranged a taxi driver who charged 25 euros in cash; if you used a card, the fare was 36 euros—another unexpected expense. Also, be cautious of cars and bikes; sometimes they don’t give you priority!!!

Ornos beach: beach with many amenities but not cheap
The beach is wide and quite sheltered from the wind when this pulls from the north, as a result the water is calm and the bottom pleasant for snorkeling. I rented a scooter and by this means you can easily find free parking along the road. The sore point is the price of sunbeds and umbrellas. In fact, in the cheapest establishment (Porto Ornos - the first you see as soon as you access the beach) the cost is 90 euros for two sunbeds in the first row and then down to 60 euros, always for two sunbeds in the last row farthest from the sea. The latter, however, has few sunbeds, so if you arrive late at the beach it is already all sold. The beds on the other hand are very comfortable. In the other establishments instead they asked us a minimum of 80 euros for two beds. Despite the price of sunbeds, the cost of food is instead in line with that of Mykonos: a gyros meat are 17 euros, a large bottle of water 4 euros and so on. Such prices always refer to Porto Ornos but looking around, even just outside the beach, more or less the prices are similar. In addition, not far away there is a supermarket where you can safely buy food and drinks at+cheap prices. Also from this beach you can rent boat trips. I was offered a boat ride at 20 Eur per person that takes you to swim in 3 different beaches, but I can not give other details because I decided not to. Finally there is a small strip of free beach generally very crowded. Ultimately, Ornos is definitely a beautiful beach and especially the closest to the Xora of Mykonos, so ideal if you do not want to go too far with the means to reach other beaches, it is well equipped and there is a bit of everything at hand but certainly not the cheapest reality.

    OK beach, conveniently located
This beach was the closest to our villa, and since we could either walk here or come here in just a few minutes by bus, it was our choice for the first beach day. We found it to be a nice enough beach with calm, clear water - but the sand is quite coarse for the most part. We were able to pre-book sunbeds at Kuzina - € 70 for a set of 2 beds and an umbrella, including towels (striped umbrellas around the middle of the beach). The sunbeds and umbrellas were comfortable and nice, and the service very good. Music was GREAT until lunch, after that it was a bit too loud and annoying for us. The menu looked good and the restaurant nice - but we chose to go next door to Kostantis instead, as they had a wider menu to suit our group, and we liked the style of the restaurant. Had a nice lunch there. Sunbeds at Kostantis are € 60/set (yellow umbrellas), but note that this does not include towels (€ 5 per towel or bring your own), meaning the price is the same as in Kuzina. All in all we found Ornos Beach worth a visit if it is conveniently located for you, but we preferred Platis Gialos Beach to Ornos.

Lovely day out at the beach
Busy beach in August but we enjoyed the day out here. Sunbeds aren't cheap but the beach bars are all nice and it's good to use their toilets, drinks, food etc. The sea is nice and clear and fairly shallow.

    Ornos Beach Mykonos and parking
Nice beach, not so much waves and wind, suitable part of Ornos. Sunbeds are also overpriced like on many places at Mykonos. Coffee or other beverages cannot be taken at the bars in restaurants if you are not guests - ridiculous. That is info from 2 main restaurants , one from the left and 2nd from the right after entrance. Parking - be very careful - price of 5e on the street to get your attention, but after entering parking spot, you can notice that this price is just for 2hr and 10e is for whole day. Again very rude guy with attitude that if you do not like parking you can go out , after we gave comment about lying with one price advertised on the street and reality is something different. Kindness at Mykonos is not which this island can be proud of. 5 or 10eur - not a problem, on some beaches is 15 or 20eur eventhough that sunbeds need to be paid from 50-70eur and parking should be free in that case. Nevertheless, tips do not need to be given to people like this because they do not deserve it, no matter how much your budget was predefined or you do not have budget and you spend by free will.

    Fairytale sea
Taken sunbed in the second row at 70 euros, high cost but we had the need, also the free beach is really a very small triangle overcrowded even in early September. The sea is something wonderful, calm, crystal clear, blue. We went on foot since we have the house nearby. Of course we will not repeat because of the cost but every day we change the beach and this after almost 10 days in Mikonos is the only time we allowed ourselves the luxury! Obviously we stayed until the evening! Excellent fruit balance see photos.

Nice beach, good restaurants and music, no party vibe
We visited ornos beach and the loungers will cost around 50-80/pair. We chose Pasaji due to the music and vibe and paid 70/pair. We had our lunch at Porto Ornos Taverna as we wanted to try some Greek dishes and in the evening sampled some amazing sushi at Pasaji.

Beautiful bay and beach in the southwest of Mykonos. A place to see and be seen. Several chic beach bars with loungers for sunbathing. Relaxing yet sophisticated atmosphere. You can easily walk down the beach and bay, about half an hour to an hour if you stroll and occasionally pause for a snack and drink along the quay. The drinks and meals in the bars and restaurants on the beach are pricey (mid-range to luxury). There is pleasant a bustle of fishing boats, private boat transfers and tours, tourists showing off while mooring their sailboats and motorized yachts. You can quickly explore Ornos Beach. It is enough to stay here for a few hours to a day. Nice for a while, but a bit too calm (too little choice of restaurants and attractions) in our opinion to spend several days. The best time to visit is during the shoulder months (April, May, September, October). Then there are less crowds and you can fully enjoy the view because the bay is not yet completely flooded by moored boats.

If you go out of the season this is an excellent option.
It is very close to the center of myconos in the south area, you can even walk about 40 minutes or by collective or taxi.
It is in the south area therefore there is no wind, it is very nice and it is the only one that out of season (I was in October) has sunbeds and umbrellas that cost 30 euros 2 sunbeds + umbrella) and there are several Paradores to eat and drink.
At that time there are not many people and the atmosphere is rather familiar.

This is one of the best beaches in Mykonos But the best time to go there it would be in June and September. July and August it is normally full of tourists. If you plan to visit more that one beach the best you can do is to stay at a hotel in the center. Then from Fabrika Stop you will take a bus for a 1.80 € ticket (one way) and arriving like in 10-15 minutes. It is cheap and d convenient to use a bus. A taxi can take longer and it would be expensive. The buses goes every hour :)
For a bus ticket you need cash.
I was in Mykonos twice and I love the beach and the food. Ornos is quite and the water is beautiful. I really love this beach 🏖
Unfortunately you have to pay 60€ for a 2X sunbed + umbrella. It is a small island so it is expected that they will make a good business out of this, therefore if you go there you have to deal with it. Plan your trip ahead and you can get good package prices for hotel + plane ticket.

I was here 12 August 2024 and my experience was horrible. The place was absolutely fabulous and the water gorgeous but the problem was another one. We wanted to take 4 places at the beach for 45€ each one, and when we payed with card they took our money two times, and a guy in front of us three times. This is a scam and if you want to come BRING CASH NO CARD!! cause they say that the card didn’t work and they make you pay again. But the beach was beautiful so 1 star.

We loved Ornos beach. The water was amazing, still, the sand was smooth with no rocks. If you stay in town you can take a bus to Ornos from Fabrika Stop for only 1.8€ (one way) and the ride takes 10-15 min. It's easy and convenient.
2 sunbeds+umbrella costs around 40-60€ depending on the proximity to the water. They also give you 2 complimentary towels every day for your sunbeds.
We also went to Platis Yialos beach, where the sunbeds are cheaper, but Ornos is way better. The atmosphere is chill and relaxed. We stayed near the Kuzina restaurant and the offer drinks and food on the beach which were delicious. The staff is very helpful with everything. 10/10 recommend.

Beautiful beach and organized service. Average price for sunbeds on the island, in fact less expensive than other beaches. The sunbeds are super crowded and the first rows are reserved from what we understand for Greek customers. Beautiful sea but very small beach.

Nice beach, very safe waters for children, family friendly although no specific activities for anyone. The beach is almost entirely 'organised' that is to say sunbeds are provided for a fee. There are a few for 20 euros per day (for two beds) but most are 30 and some outside the private hotels are 50, so build all of this extra spend into your holiday budget.

We were here during August 2020, so numbers of visitors down from normal no doubt and so had no problem getting beds in the morning, but by midday most beds were taken. And be warned, if you turn up at 4pm they still expect you to pay the full day rate, unlike some areas of Spain where you will pay a half day rate.

Beautiful and easy to navigate around. We stayed at one of the hotels on the beach and it was so nice to stroll the beach at night, sit for dinner or a drink. The beach is packed with subbeds and chairs. There is no room for kids to play in the sand or do anything else. For adults its really nice. Many restaurants all excellent. Dress up as its pretty high end especially in the evening dresses and nice evening wear. Sunbeds are 80 euros for 2 people whether you stay an hour or a whole day and mandatory. Nowhere else to lay sit or stand. If traveling mid June through summer reservations required.

Very nice beach - clean with lovely clear water. As it is in a bay it seems quite a safe place to bathe and swim and if just want to sit and watch then there always the boats and yachts to marvel and gawp at!
The only reason why my star rating is three rather than four or five is because the beach is, in my opinion, over run with sun beds with little space left for those who prefer to lie on a towel on the beach. Also, the sun beds are all provided by the bars and restaurants that back the beach and there is an expectation for the users of the sun beds to purchase their drinks from the bar/restaurant at a none inexpensive price! Others have also noted how expensive it is to hire the sun beds - so be aware!

I was on my own, I was told on the beach that it was 90€ for 2 sunbeds and they wouldn’t give a discount for 1 person. I was then told I couldn’t lay my towel down on free sand unless it was at the far end of the beach!!
The sea of course is beautiful to swim in.
Added to this my hotel told me it would be 30€ to go in a taxi to Paradise beach area, Beware!!! A young taxi driver known by the hotel in a private taxi then tried to charge me 45€ instead for the 10 minute journey. I found out apparently public taxis are on meters and are much cheaper. The bus is under 2 €. Frankly my experience in Ornos was one of being ripped off!! Tgd rest of Mykonos I loved!!
