An interesting showcase of orchids in their myriad forms.
Sep 2019
The orchids weren't 'in season' when we visited, but I imagine the place to be amazing when they are. It was still a very interesting visit, with the guide being incredibly knowledgeable about orchids and many other local flora. The museum is built in somebody's old house, so there's an empty swimming pool in the middle of it all, which is a little distracting, but otherwise, and awesome experience.

Very Good Place!

Good service (thank you, Carlos!). I had the empanadas with huitlacoche as an (entirely too big) appetizer, followed by a fresh trout in foil, stuffed with equally fresh shrimp. Divine! Really very, very good, and very reasonably priced. The Carrot Cake is also exceptional. No hesitation in recommending this fine little restaurant!

Excellent orquid collection

Wonderful to observe so many different orquids, ferns and bromeliads. Not to be missed for anyone enjoying the ecosystem of Coatepec and the overwhelming variety of endemic plants protected here.

The orquid museum provided a unique museum experience. Thousands of varieties are exhibited. We had an excellent guide who spoke English well.

Great job taking care of the orchids
Jul 2017
It is small but very well located, and has a great variety of orchids. The tour guides know a lot about the different plants and are always ready to answer all your questions.

Lovely couple doing their best and loving orchids
May 2016 • Couples
The old and sweet couple who own the museum (it is really the garden of their house) do a huge effort to promote and preserve the love for orchids, ferns and other plants. It is endearing what they do as they only charge 30 pesos (2 dollars) for the entrance. Unfortunately, orchids bloom in march so there´s not much to see in different times. Oh, just visit it to help them maintain the garden!!!

This museum is worth the trip. It presents a range of Orquideas (Orquids) and some interesting information about how the flowers are grown.

This is Mexico’s orchid country! Eighty year-old Dr. Isaias Contreras Juarez and wife are the originators and caretakers of this “save our orchids” out-door greenhouse. It’s on Aldama, between Cuauhtémoc and Hidalgo, a block and one-half from downtown’s central park. A caretaker is there Wednesdays through Sundays from 10 to 5. Senora Contreras was our guide. All in Spanish. These are her several thousand children, each one known, loved and coddled. This house and sizeable backyard have been totally taken over. These are people with a real raison d'être! It’s the town’s best attraction, a total delight, and I’m no special flower lover.

A lovely little museum
Mar 2013 • Couples
This museum provides a guided tour (with a magnifying glass to see small flowers) through a magnificent collection of orchids. It's small but well worth a stop.
