Yet another day with overcast on my holiday. A quick decision to drive some 100 km to the east coast of southern Sweden: Österlen, and Simrishamn. An absolutely wonderful coastal and green area. The goal of the journey was the Nordic Sea Winery. A newly established corporation that import raw wine from all over the world. The raw wine undergoes certain processes in order to give it the special character of its origin, be it South Africa, California, or Italy, by various types of storage; French oak drums, to give it the right types and degree of tannins and vanilla, and stainless steel tanks for the wine that doesn't favor those flavours. The guided tour of the facility was excellent. We followed the entire process of the wine from the start in the vessels to filling in bottles or bags. We learned that they had moved the entire company and organisation from Italy to Sweden due to logistics reasons and that 50 % of all wine the produce is sold in bags.
The best was yet to come: the tasting of five different wines. First by color, bouquet and taste. My own trick is to note if and to what degree the wine is crying: stir the wine around in the glass and see if the glycolic content of the wine falls down inside the glass, just like tears dripping down the cheek. After that, we had a plate of various salami, air-dried Italian ham, and two different types of cheese. Superb. And amazing how the character of the wine shifted in combination with the food.
We had a really nice day and were taken good care of by the guides and sommeliers telling us about their own wine yard.
Stunningly, we learned that they grow their own grapes, experimenting if, and how such harvests will enable wine making of their own grapes.
If you are interested in wine and have half a day at your disposal. Go there. You will not regret it.

Had no idea what we booked when we took the tour in the winery, was positively surprised - very professional guide and an interesting experience. The wine tasting was nice too, generous portions of wine... The food was ok, but not amazing. Some elements, like the pickled cherry tomatoes that went with the fish, were really not good (they were extremely sweet and totally dominated the taste). Other dishes were much better. And the service was friendly and efficient. All and all a pleasant evening, even if the food was not really best value for money

This is the place to go for lunch and try all the different foods you never tried before. The offer for lunch is just Todays Lunch, Vegetarian, a soup and the local selection, but no matter what you try it almost always tastes delicious. I've so far only had a hamburger that didn't live up to the task, but I've also tried a lot of dishes that I usually don't like, and the were excellent. I only have high praise for this restaurant. Still to go is the wine tasting and pairing, which everyone tells me is the best.

Due to covid they had a fixed menu, Ceasar salad where ok but wasnt a Ceasar, dressing where bland salmon cubes and asparagus lifted.
Hamburger as main probably the worst burger ive had in years, compact overcooked chunk of meat absolutely tasteless,
Great creme brulee, wine ok but nothing made from nordic countries.
Felt like a lobby or a museum with nothing to look at, staff where attentive and friendly.

This is a Swedish winery that make blends of imported bulk wines. Some of them are actually surprisingly good. They also have an excellent restaurant in their beautiful building, and wine tasting is held on a regular basis. Recommended!

It is apparently Sweden's largest winery for storage, processing and packing of wine for this market. Situated little away from city centre, they provide the guided tour of their facility. They don't make wine there in true sense meaning that they import raw wine and then do all the downstream process. Tour starts with a short movie about the process in their restaurant. Guided tours are not cheap but they are a different experience. They give 5 wines as tasters after the tour.
