Extensive bath/spa combining modern luxury with ancient history. Many thermal baths, saunas and relax rooms. There is medieval section, a Turkish bath section a Roman section aging from the first century, outdoor thermal pool with amazing scenic view and a bath in a cave that is the only one in its kind in Europe. Well prices for a spa and not that many tourist. Mostly Italians coming for the weekend. Only bad thing was crowded locker rooms and showers but not that big of a issue. There are also sun bathing terasses for when it’s sunny!

Nestled in the hills above the scenic town of Bormio is this picturesque and delightful oasis. If you are a hotel guest there is a free shuttle but otherwise you need a car to arrive or its a 10 euro taxi ride. This spa offers something for every temperature preference so try every room til you find the ones you like. This is my 3rd time back and somehow I missed the Grotto before now so make sure you look at the map and cover every inch on the place. My favorite water rooms are the waterfalls&the outdoor jacuzzi/pool.

I did not know what to expect although many friends told me about this place. I am not a Spa person but this place blew my mind...and body away. I had a wonderful time, came out relaxed and drained, happy though. The views are wonderful, the facilities well kept and the place is enchanting. Do remember to go there from Monday to Thursday do avoid the weekend if you really want to have the place for yourself and enjoy it fully.

If you are looking for good time and hospitality this is definitely wrong place. I understand that this facility is old and in a way historical and if this is what you looking for then there is a chance that you may enjoy it. At the end all reviews are matters of personal experience. So what was wrong…
Buy far it was front desk person who also introduced herself as a manager. First she misinformed us about facility stating that there is a bar area where we could wait for each other There is a bar but for hotel guests only not for spa visitors. Then she refused to let us in to take a look at the facility before we decide to go in. Then she told us that her computer made a mistake when payment was processed. Then she became really agitated and hostile when I asked her about bar and where I can wait for my friends since I can’t go to spa because of my knee injury. Italians are really hospitable and fun people and she was a really first exemption in many years i was coming to this beautiful country.
Lunch is super mediocre at best and definitely is not worth money and time you would spend on it.

We happened upon this amazing experience. It was indeed one of the most spectacular finds along our ride through Switzerland through the Italian alps and onto Germany. This is not just a spa. This is a natural spring thermal Medieval Bathing Complex steeped in tremendous history. It is totally unique. The views are unbelievable as you sit in bubbling wonderfulness and watch your cold breath over the steaming waters while smiling at the landscape of snow covered mountains. Have a sauna infused with orange and clove, follow the Roman canals into the hot pools below in the basements and then visit the ice cold pools to refresh after a steam bath. The smells are wonderous and the infused tea is warming and available on tap throughout the day. We were so lucky to find this and at 42 EUROS per person for a whole day....amazing value that just cannot be bottled. We will return!

We first visited here in 2012 & I raved about our experience, it was so good. We returned again this year, after a few years, to see if anything had changed...and in fairness the only thing that has, is its popularity; which is not necessarily a good thing.
It's a lot more commercial. The front of house team, is just that, a team! It has lost a few excellent personnel & a little of its homely feeling, and expanded into a marketed business. Skin products, perfume, soaps...all for sale...all lovely, but....maybe put them in a welcome pack; because we went there for accommodation and good food!
All that aside, the room was spotless, comfortable, well serviced, good wifi etc. The breakfast superb, the restaurant also. Lovely waiting staff, good wine list....
I just felt the Roman Baths had become too busy with daytime visitors, that the overnight guests got lost in the crowd.. but still worth a visit, if that makes sense!

I recently visited the spa in hopes to relax and get a massage after long days of riding on motorbike across the Alps. I was looking forward to get some relieve for my very sore back and shoulders. Instead I got a massage that a 5 year old can do better. The massage therapist didn’t speak a word of English and he just kept pouring oil on me. I asked him to give me a little harder pressure and he just started spreading the oil on me faster. I was waiting for it to get better and he just kept smothering me in oil. It was terrible and he kept pushing on my head with his belly. Also, the bath were very extremely busy as it was Saturday. Yes the view from the pool was nice but that’s about it. I don’t recommend getting any kind of treatments here, waste of your money.

However we booked a room with 2 single beds (Twin) of us slept on a couch which was not very comfortable
This is not acceptable service from what is supposed to be a four star hotel
We would have left but it was to late to start looking for another hotel

We went into Bormio for dinner we were told that the bar in the hotel was closed at 8 pm

I would visit here again for a day to use the baths and spa but I would not stay in this half hotel again

Expensive for sleeping on a couch

When I complained to the receptionist she said she was very sorry her being sorry does not do anything for me

The hotel needs to be up front and honest and say that you do not have proper twin rooms
