This town may be hard to find but offers a self-guided tour through the old Kashba ending at the charming Piazza between the Cathedral and city hall. If you can be there when kids are picked up from School you’ll see a crowded scene turning into a deserted Piazza. Ceramic tiles allow you to find your way through the narrow Streets. Get a map from the friendly tourist Office at the departure point on the Beach promenade.

We visited here to check out where some friends had had their wedding. It is a beautiful church with fabulous frescoes. I was interested in some of the excavations they had around the cathedral and which are able to be viewed.

Beautiful on the outside, but you have to go inside.
The fresco's are breathtaking.
the acoustics are amazing.
One person at the back or the duomo can whisper to somebody standing at the altar.

This is an amazing church with ancient bits from the previous church still visible.

This Cathedral Church is very large and beautifully positioned close to the Lungomare. The front face is very beautiful as my photo shows. A large square lies behind the building from where one can gain a sense of its proportions. The architecture is predominantly baroque though its origins lie in Norman times. We definitely recommend this as one of the most interesting sites in the town and it is worth researching the long and complex history of the place.

The cathedral is very very big, the yellow of the walls is so strong that seems as a sun this wonderful cathedral. It is almost in front of the beach in a very nice area of Mazara del Vallo, close to the strip. Absolutely important is to visit it.

As for many churches in Sicily, this has elements of Norman architecture although the majority is a later baroque. The inside is particularly ornate and busy. The square behind is beautiful and peaciful.

The plaza setting is magnificent, real mixture of cultures here in the buildings, best to get a guide or read up from the many books available.

I enjoyed visiting the duomo very much, as well as spending time relaxing in the lovely piazza outside the duomo. After your visit, why not take a few minutes and visit the extremely interesting small ornithology museum also on the piazza across from the duomo?
