Rami's vast knowledge combined with his life experiences give him a unique lens through which to share. To say that our tour with Rami was eye-opening and memorable would be a massive understatement.

Israel is designed to minimize contact between Jews and Palestinians. Israeli Arabs live separate lives, even in Jaffa and Haifa, which are more integrated than Tel Aviv or Jerusalem. Much of this separation is more cultural than religious or ethnic. In cities, it usually does not involve personal animosity. But the effect is to create a bubble. If you visit Israel, you land in the bubble (Israel forbids West Bank Palestinians to land at Ben Gurion airport) and unless you make an effort, you will never leave it. Rami Nazzal takes you outside the bubble into the West Bank and the lives of Palestinians. Rami is the son of two prominent scholars of Palestinian life. He writes for US publications, including the New York Times. He has lived extensively in the US and holds a US passport. He not only understands Palestinian life first-hand, he knows the towns, camps, settlements, and checkpoints of the West Bank like the back of his hand. He was high-fived and hugged everywhere we went. Israel and Palestine is a topic that is hard to find people who are as deeply informed, fair-minded about the challenges, and passionate about the need for deeper understanding as Rami. He knows the history and lived through a lot of it. He does not glorify Palestinian conduct, or Israel’s. In 6-8 hours, you will see a part of Israel that was not designed for you to see. But you cannot possibly understand this place without a visit to the West Bank. This is the best way to make that visit. Do not hesitate.

Seeing the reality of occupation was a challenging, invaluable experience. I still struggle with what is happening there. This tour should be mandatory for everyone traveling to the region. Rami knows everyone there and is great to talk to about anything. After seeing Ramallah, Hebron, and Bethlehem on a solo tour, I had Rami show some more places to my family and me. He goes out of his way to give you the best experience and the most knowledge possible.

Prior to the tour, I was a somewhat reluctant participant, in part because of safety concerns and in part because of concern about having a highly biased trip. Both were unnecessary concerns. Rami's tour provided our group of 4 with as a broad and as intimate a look of the West Bank, as one can expect to get in period of about 8 hrs. He provided us with a balanced perspective of life in the area and did not shy away from answering any questions. As an aside, sometime after the tour I realized that I had left my phone in Rami's vehicle. While he was out of the area, he quickly returned to our hotel to drop off my phone. We were all grateful for the opportunity to spend the day with Rami

Our day with Rami in the West Bank (Hebron and Bethlehem) was the experience of a lifetime for me and my daughter, who is 25 and working in digital media in NYC. I am a retired communications executive at American Express in NYC, and I wrote speeches and traveled the world, but somehow never made it to this region. Rami's intelligence, integrity, and passion for his work set him apart. He has an incredible amount of knowledge about Israel and Palestine and was able to answer questions about the history of the region as well as about the daily news. He went to college and lived in the U.S. and comes from a family of professors who focus on the mideast. He took us to places in the West Bank and let us see and form our own opinions. He is friendly with many people there, and we even visited a glass maker in Hebron and bought items that will remind us of how special the day with Rami was. His tour is ideal for those who wish to take the time to go beyond the usual tourist sites. We felt well cared for and completely safe in his capable hands. I will follow the news from the region with a deeper understanding!
