Stopped by for a wee dram and discovered an outstanding, friendly restaurant and pub with new, welcoming owners who are committed to providing their patrons the finest locally sourced Scottish fare. Don't miss it if you are in Dufftown. Beautiful and pristine classic Scottish pub atmosphere. Highly recommend it here!

A cold night so something to warm up with was the call. B&B gave us the recommendation. Had a great night, got chatting to a local and Our hostess helped us through a wee tasting session!! The tab was a pleasant surprise. All in all a memorable introduction to Whisky in its home town

Here's what you'll learn quickly when you go to Scotland. The whiskey is expensive and there is an overwhelming amount of it. Quick tip. Go to the Royal Oak and let the bartenders guide you to a favorite. At the low prices per glass you can try quite a bit. The owner, Pearl, has an encyclopedic knowledge of the over... More

Exactly what I pictured a Scotish pub should be. Locals and tourists having a fun time over whiskies and beer. Dufftown was our first stop in Scotland and this pub may have spoiled us for the rest. They managed to shock us with the bar tab (in a good way) twice :). Thanks Pearl!

My son and I were staying at a great new B&B a very short walk away and went to work on the single malts here one night, resulting in a bill that was entirely reasonable which we paid. Not so easy! The woman who owns it with her equally engaging husband realizes that we'd been subjected to some minor overcharge... More

If you're lucky enough to find yourself in Dufftown, be sure to spend some time at the Royal Oak. Dufftown is in the heart of whisk(e)y heaven, and this bar is the local hub of this heaven. John and Evonne own the joint, and provide great hospitality, and true knowledge of the area and it's many malted mysteries. This is... More

Wow, what a bar. Coming from LA we were short on time and in need of the full whisky experience. John owned it. And the kicker is the cost. All his marks are right around £6 and always at least £2 less than the other bars we visited that night. Ask for John and say L.A. sent you!
