I took the route from Eschachalm via Neualm to Duisitzkarsee and back to Eschachalm. The first leg (to Neualm) was a nice walk through forests and along some wild waters. The second leg from Neualm to the beautiful Duisitzkarsee was quite challenging (do not even try to do this leg without proper hiking shoes!) , due to the rather narrow path full of stones, roots etc. - it seemed endless until finally the Duisitzkarsee came in sight. The view definitely paid off for the efforts! Enjoyed a very tasty meal in Fahrlechhütte before surrounding the lake and heading back to the starting point.

A strenuous trek brings you up to the back of the alpine chalet, where drinks and snacks are readily available, and there is another the other side of the lake. It's a pleasure unparalled to watch the summer pastures being grazed by the cows who come up for 4 months of the year to deliver the best dairy products-butter, milk, and rare cheeses. Stunning scenery all around, crystal clear lake. Ideal for a summer trek. Wanderbusse or trekking busses bring you regularly to or from the start of the in parts steep alpine path. Choose a sunny warm day and enjoy the deep blue skies and fresh alpine air. Fahrlechhütte and Duisitzkarseehütte are direct next to the lake.

This is a stunning walk requiring some modest effort but is well worth it. The variety of scenery is great and the hospitality at the Hutte at the top is really good as is the food.

This is an excellent hiking destination. There are two different trails leading up to the lake - one is a steep single track and then there is a wider forest road. It took us an hour to get up there and we were blown away by the stunning views. Highly recommend this hike. Also good for kids.

There are basically 2 ways to get there...one which is sort of mountain road for 4x4 cars ... This one longer, but more comfortable... Second one which we choose (not sure if it was a good idea ...) went straight to the top ....apparently they say short-cut...you definitely need good shoes there... From the beginning it looked like "for well trained people only"...and myself and my wife we were suffering "a bit" ... But our sons 21 and 14 yrs liked it a lot... After one hour of "survival race" we went out of the woods (not just proverb... But real forest...) and we saw all taller peaks around even covered with snow....we were around 1600 m above sea level....then we choose "easier" option and continued on the road...after approx 30min we saw lake... Amazing view... You definitely go for it!!

Cold but hidden gem! Reachable via short hike (ca 1h) from Eschbachhuette or via Neualm via Alpinesteig in ca 3h. Grazing cow herds and free ranging rabbits!!! Amazing atmosphere and you can take a swim.

The hike itself is very uphill in parts but well worth it for the view when you get there!
Best to start out fairly early in the day so you are not hiking when the sun is at its
hottest. You need to take a rucksack for water to have along the way!

The walk to the lake itself is medium hard, sometimes kind of steap, but the reward is worth it. The lake is realy nice and there are several huts who serve drinks and something to eat. I would certainly recommend this!
