The Lake Pravin is absolutely stunning. The walk around it took an hour for people of relatively good fitness however it may take longer depending on how much you stop and how fit you are. One of the most incredible features of the lake is the colour, a turquoise blue. Swimming isn’t permitted in the Lake however dipping your feet in from the side is fine. There is a restaurant overlooking the lake, we didn’t go there but it looked relatively full. The Lake Pravin definitely deserves a rating of 5 stars.

Go and see it. Clear water and geological wonder. It even has a bar! The lac contains Arctic Char if you fish. Stocked locally from Besse.

Lac Pavin is a very deep lake, clear (but not quite as clear as once it was) blue water formed in a volcano crater near Besse. It is a beautiful and relaxing walk. In the lake are trout, artic char and minnows, with ducks and other wildlife. If you travel anti-clockwise from the restaurant, you continue nearer the lake level. You can get about 2/3rds of the way round with a pushchair with ease. The last part rises steeply and is littered with rocks and outcrops, and the path is crossed by many streams without bridges and some without boundaries! You can navigate it by carrying a pushchair (we've done it) but it's not easy and you would need a third person to supervise any loose children. You are likely to get muddy feet in this last part even if it has been hot.its in the shade all the way round, and you could always turn back halfway.

We visited Lac Pavin early one evening in August. We decided to hike around the lake and found it to be quite charming. I assumed it was a volcanic lake, so later on I googled it to discover it is a multi layered lake, in fact 2 lakes in one! So we were educated as well as enchanted!

A walk around the lake takes less than an hour and is very nice. We were her on a September afternoon and it was very quiet. Perhaps that was related to the fact that the restaurant/hotel(?) was closed.

Very nice walk around the lake. It is not too difficult, and it is a very good way to discover the volcanoes landscape.

If ever here, visit and walk here, stunning! Beautiful and perfectly round volcanic lake, with lots of walks for all ages and levels of fitness. It even has a bar and restaurant.

If you are a nature lover and you like to spend your time amidst water, trees and rock, then there is no better place. All around the lake, there is a place for a stroll but is hardly visible to the naked eyes. This is a picturesque location for any photography lover. Boating is also available for a nominal cost. Only setback is the unavailability of a shelter in case of an unprecedented downpour or a kids play area, so, plan accordingly.

Easily accessible by road, with plenty of car parking, toilets, and cafe/restaurant. This is a busy attraction giving easy access to a delightful walk around the lake which takes around an hour or so on mainly good tracks. This is not a place to seek solitude, but is still worth visiting to experience it's great beauty, with plenty of wildlife and fish in the lake.

The place is still as magical as ever. But we have been so disappointed by the new team. We have been informed once seated that the dish of the day was no longer available. Everything else was almost twice the price. It was not our initial objective, but we thought about having a good lunch. I took the specialty of the lake, the omble chevalier. There is a minimum size to catch these fishes; mine was clearly below the minimum. The kids menu at 8.50 is just a rip off as well.
From a nice table we use the enjoy, this is now just another tourist trap. Really too bad.
