About
Els Munts is one of the best preserved aristocratic villas from Roman Hispania. In an incomparable setting on the shores of the Mediterranean, the inhabitants of this country residence would have enjoyed the tranquillity of rural life and the beauty of the surroundings, but without foregoing luxury and refinement. It was a house designed for the leisure and relaxation of the Tarraco elites and would no doubt have played a key role in their social, political and economic relations.

Worth some time out to see
Oct 2019 • Couples
An example of a Roman villa to a good standard if you are bored of the beach then take an hour to visit here, it’s worth the time and not expensive to explore, the remaining mosaics are good in colour and example of the time.

Pity about the renovations
Jul 2019
We were very interested to see this villa, but unfortunately a good portion of it was unavailable to view due to renovation work. What we did see was really good, with good explanations in English. Good loos and only a couple of Euros entry, so can't complain I suppose! We will go again once the work is completed.

Whilst some work is being undertaken on this site of great historic interest it is well worth a visit as the area is noted for its great roman influence .

for nothing
Mar 2018 • Couples
if you are desperately looking for Roman ruins, this is another place to visit. but there is nothing else. the mosaics here are not really something, and the better ones are in the museum in Tarragona. additionally, a part of the site was closed for works. a long way to come for so little.

Want to see how in first century AD the Roman upper class lived?
Oct 2017 • Friends
Villa Romana Dels Munts is the remains of a super large Roman villa for one of the two duumviri (top rulers) of Tarraaco (Tarragona). The villas size and opulence makes it one of the most important Roman villas in Spain.
Check out the size of the baths and the sauna; the mosaics and room layouts. Life was very good for the upper class! Spare a thought for the slaves that presumably maintained the large establishment. A must see if you have interest in history!

Nice, but relatively small
Jul 2017 • Family
Quite little is left of what once was a great villa, and a nice corridor with a mosaic and painted remnant of rooms is the most notable feature. The little museum attached is interesting, but as historical sites go, it's not the most awe-inducing.
