A nice beach, but your hotel's is almost as nice and the food and booze is free at your hotel. I wouldn't make a special trip. There is an open top bus that runs between all the hotels and Pillar Beach

Lovely beach, but we already had a lovely beach at our resort, so we didn't notice much difference. We accidentally went on a Sunday which turns out to be hotel staff day off so the beach was Very crowded. Definitely advise you going Mon-Tues. We rented a taxi which was So nice! The taxi driver was a surgeon at the... More

It's a bumpy open top bus ride for at least an hour up the Playa. Watch out for Flamingos on the lagoons as you go. Buses start running at 8.45 am and get busier and busier so go early. Its 5 cuc return on bus but there are also taxis and hire bikes available. Once there beach is accessed through... More

Had high expectations for this beach. The beaches in Varadero are more beautiful. The double decker bus was and hour and half without anything really interesting to look at. The beach was covered in seaweed. The sand was nice and the ocean is always beautiful. Not very attractive to set your lounger on seaweed and walk through seaweed to go... More

Took the bus from our resort to Playa Pilar and the beach was amazing, one of the best beaches we have enjoyed. White sand, beautiful blue water, no crowds, lots of photo ops, truly amazing. There are life guards on duty, lots of chair rentals for $2 and a new restaurant/bar almost opened. Pilar beach is a must while visiting... More

We been to many, many locations and enjoyed this beach the most. What a spot, the place is amazing, do this as an excursion, and you will be very very pleased.

The beach was incredible and fairly sparse, until the 2 catamarans showed up with 100+ people crowding the beach. It was almost like a cruise ship stop.
