Was a nice beach to visit for a swim or some sand time. Some stretches empty or nearly empty--a nice change from the more popular beaches on either side. Some commercial sections, including a bar with a balcony overlooking the sand and ocean. Like all...More

From the Bougainvillea Hotel we could walk past Ocean one, Royal Sandals, Sandals and Turtle beach. This walk was right along the length of Maxwell Beach. There was a footpath at the end near the Dover beach Hotel which took you through to the start...More

This beach has the most beautiful sand, not a single rock in it. So soft. The view of the water is spectacular. Wonderful shades of blue, you could stare at for ours. The water temperate was good.

Very isolated stretch of beach. Soft sand, but sea weed intrudes at times. We were positioned just past the breakers at Bougainvillea Resorts, so the sea weed was light and quickly raked up by maintenances, but further down, in front of Sandles, it was heavy....More

Apparently, we are here during the "off season". Very few people to enjoy beach. But that's okay because there is no fighting for chairs on beach, I can play my music, and where we are staying, Bourgainvillea, no problem with dinner reservations. Yes, the waves...More

This beach is excellent most of the time. The seaweed issue on the east and south coast right now has rendered a lot of the beaches less than desirable. But that is environmental and pretty much island wide.

We spent a week at Bougainvillea Beach Resort on Maxwell Beach. We could not swim in the ocean because the water was too rough. Our resort beach area had very little seaweed, but all the resorts next to us had massive amounts. It was not...More

what beach on Atlantic side? (11 Replies)
we are currently visiting barbados as we speak and LOVE it......W are staying in Maxwell Beach area and beach is great, however we have a car and thought it might be cool to visit one or two beaches on The Atlantic side.....we are a family of five, with youngest at 7....he is having a ball with the waves here the last couple of days ...so probably nothing to calm as he might think that is to quiet for him lol....probably nothing to rocky either.....any suggestions would be greatly...More

Spectacular beaches and scenery on the Atlantic side but I don't think that any of them are suitable for a seven year old to swim in. Bathsheba is the one I always think of, it's a surfing beach and much too dangerous for a little one. However there's nothing to stop you watching the waves come in, just keep your distance. Worth going for the drive and perhaps lunch at the Roundhouse.

Wedding photos (5 Replies)
Hi again folks...another question...(and really appreciate all the feedback so far)...looking for some really scenic places to take some photos after our wedding at Maxwell Beach. We'll take some right at the beach of course, but looking for other suggestions for places in the area, or near Champers, where we'll be eating that night. I was hoping for a nice pier to take some pictures, or anywhere else...thanks.

Theres a small pier/jetty behind St Lawrence Beach Condos next to the church in The Gap . Ive seen it used by a few wedding photographers . If you do a search for SLBC you should see some pictures in the gallery . Hope this helps .
