Wonderful beach with soft sand. There is a lifeguard on duty. The surf can get a bit rough and it is a bit loud at night due to the rougher surf. Great for body surfing or boogey boarding. You can rent chairs and umbrellas.

Beautiful clean white sandy beach. Quiet in October, which makes it even more relaxing. Gentle sloping beach into the balmy waters.

We stayed at the South Beach Hotel. Across the street is the beautiful Rockley beach. It's a must visit beach. There's plenty of vendors including great food. There's also a Chefette in the area. Food is awesome.

There was no sewage problem when we were there in September. We walked right along Rockley Beach from Hastings beach walking through the water and sand. No issues at all. They are the most beautiful white sandy beaches.

Rockley Beach, also known as Accra Beach, is about a kilometer west of Worthing beach. It is Worthing Beach that is near the area where a sewage smell occasionally lingers due to a collapsed or plugged up sewage pipe that... More

Went in mid-November 2017 and had no issue with water or smell. In fact, none of my Bajan friends told me about the issue until after I'd left...but I saw both locals and foreigners bathing in the water while we were there.

Maxwell Beach vs. Accra/Rockley Beach (10 Replies)
I finally decided to stick with the South Coast. Now I just need to decide whether to stay near Maxwell or Rockley. We found nice rentals in both areas. Which beach is nicer? Which is calmer or has more waves? We aren’t hiring a car so which location would be best for getting to the St. Lawrence Gap and catching busses/taxis. There was a Tripadvisor page for Rockley but there wasn’t one for Maxwell. Thanks so much for any and all advice once again.

Yes I agree - both are desirable locations but, if you aren't planning on hiring a car, then I think that you will find more things within walking distance if you base yourself at Rockley than you will at Maxwell. Again, just my opinion.

Hotel/Tour Operator Recommendations (5 Replies)
Hi I travelled to Barbados in 2003 and stayed at The Magic isle apartments on Rockley Beach - I loved the area and am looking at a trip this year. However I seem to be having real difficulty finding a tour operator with flights from Manchester who offer accommodation in this area - it all appears to be in St Lawrence which is a bit too lively for my travel companions! Any suggestions of hotels nearby and tour operators would be really appreciated.

i think virgin are the only ones that fly out of manchester these days, although there might be the odd charter flight every now and again aswell. Try Virgin holidays they do some good packages, or just book your flight and hotel/villa seperate, i've done it quite a few times with no probs, can work out cheaper aswell
