Poorly organized timing

Late leaving and very late returning. Complete lack of communication about what was happening. Standing on the dock for over an hour as small boats came and went. Our booked sailing left without us with no problem explanation. Come on, this is asking to much for an overpriced ride to an overcrowded beach. Obviously they booked too many people to meet their stat d schedule. Unacceptable!

overall it was good, but some important flaws...

This is a reasonable option for visiting Lotu and / or Saleccia beaches. The beaches are wonderful and definitely worth the trip.

However, there are some important details that need attention when using Le Popeye. Similar to some of the other reviews (I only realised this after visiting and then reading the reviews), that we were not given all the information necessary for a smooth return journey. For example, we were also not informed that the boat back would be with a different boat company (not a 'Le Popeye' branded boat we arrived on) - which was confusing as we nearly missed the boat.

Also, the 4x4 vehicle did not meet us at the pre-booked time to return us from Saleccia to Lotu. We managed to get a ride with another company just in time to not miss our boat back to St Florent.

Overall, the boats seem clean and well maintained, with a reasonable crew who seemed professional and helpful. However, this is an expensive trip, particularly in 'peak' summer prices. We paid 35 Euros each, so if you have a family, this is an expensive day out. I would also recommend buying tickets at least 1 day in advance - even though we did this, most timings were fully booked so we had a restricted choice of boat timings.

Today we went on a Popeye boat trip to port de Centuri. We had a fantastic day although we were the only English people on board everyone crew and fellow passengers were very friendly. The scenery was stunning, the sea calm and the sun shining. We spent an hour in the port then returned to the boat for a BBQ, swimming and snorkelling.

Have sent them 3-4 emails and they don't reply. Website is only in French. Very disappointing given I wanted to book with them.

Probably one of the best conventional boats trip on the island

We booked for a trip visiting the beaches of the area which were said to be excellent but the outing was cancelled due to very heavy rain. As with most boat excursions in Corsica they include a baignade, which gives the people on the trip the opportunity to take a swim. It also fills in time for the organisers of the trip as the boat just anchors somewhere or other and the crew do nothing for this period, about half an hour I guess.
We caught the 11.30 bus operated by Santini that leaves from the small bus station opposite the tourist office in St Nicholas Square. We were assured that we would be able to catch the 16.15, the last bus from St Florent to Bastia. As I say this did not happen because the trip was cancelled. Never mind, I guess it was not meant to happen.

Quick well organised boat taxis but VERY expensive.

After paying €8-12 return on virtually any boat trip around Skiathos we were slightly shocked at the prices at Popeye Saint Florent. €20 return to Lotu beach, €30 return to Saleccia. They still sold out virtually every time slot due to the lack of competition in the area.

We opted for a outbound rib to Saleccia and inbound ferry from Lotu. We walked for around an hour between the two beaches. Out of the two Saleccia is bigger and less crowded but we found Lotu to be calmer, with more clear/blue water and more marine life.

Overall I would say the trip is worth it for the beaches. Its a shame there is no cheaper option though.

Great day at the beach

Staff in St Florent were very helpful and recommended best way to spend time at both beaches. Zodiac ride out to Salecchia was brilliant, beach lovely and sea good for swimming. Walked to Lotu and got the bigger boat back from there, very comfortable if not quite as much fun! Would recommend this as a day trip from St Florent. Park behind Spar as it's free and only 5 mins to pretty much anywhere in town.

Don't miss the boat!

Such a great boat trip (€16 return) to the beautiful pale sand of Lotu beach, accessible only by boat or 4x4. No cafe, no facilities, no shade either - just a little bit of out of season paradise with clear turquoise water to wallow in. From there if you fancy it, it's a 45 min stroll across the maquis and its wild flowers to the other similarly inaccessible beach at Saleccia , equally beautiful and remote but just a bit bigger. Or you can pre-book a 12-seater rib to take you. Oh, and did I mention you might see cows? Yes - on the beach.
After a spot of basking on the sand and a splash or two, we walked along the coastal path (an easy 1.5 hours) back to Lotu to hop on the boat back to St Florent.
Just a perfect day!

Reliable boat service to Lotu beach
May 2017 • Family
After just 20 mins from St Florent port, you arrive at Lotu beach. Friendly crew, beautiful journey, walk to Saleccia (they also have a taxi boat rib option) or walk back to St Florent, or just enjoy some of the best beaches in Corsica.

Good, reliable service.

Very good, regular ferry service to take you to Lotu and Solecchia beaches. Both are well worth a visit. We did try to book a trip and were told that it was cancelled due to impending bad weather. Lo and behold, within 3 hours the weather broke and even the large yachts did not venture out for a day.
