The advert for Crusson boats indicated that the pony rides were free and included in the price of the boat trip. However we we arrived on site the free pony rides were no longer free but were charged at €10 per pony for 20 minutes. You had to lead the ponies yourself and very quickly the ponies decided that they would go no further and constantly tried to return to the starting point. No riding helmets were provided. Children very disappointed! The boat trip was enjoyable but be aware that the commentary is only in French.

In terms of beauty and fun, this place is high on the list. Being in the boat is lovely, it's a true beauty spot. However we were surprised how halfway in, our tour guide started telling us (with our 2 year old present) about how the ducks and geese are hunted every year and apparently that's how the ecosystem thrives (I work in conservation and a healthy ecosystem should not depend upon guys wading through the marshes blasting birds into oblivion). This place is not really a true wilderness (the goats are, I suspect, not remotely native) - they're cute, but beware, we were also told they are culled - as are other invasive species. It's more a prop up for the hunting industry than a true wilderness sadly.

This is not easy to find but worth the effort. There is a restaurant there which I hope to try next year. I arrived too late to take a boat trip but it looked very interesting There were lots a animals.
