You can take a picture of the mountain and the falls together
There is a paid parking lot. The waterfalls were not very long but powerful. We parked here to see the mountain and took some beautiful pictures of the mountain and the waterfalls together. We didn't find any free parking to see the mountain.

    Iconic Iceland Waterfall and Mountain
For me, Kirkjufellsfoss is an iconic Icelandic photo event. The falls are beautiful, and the Kirkjufell Mountain in the background makes for a lovely photo. I would put this as the number one must-see in Iceland. I stayed for too long, taking pictures from different angles.

    The "Game of Thrones" waterfall
Kirkjufellsfoss is a spectacular and popular waterfall and pictures can be taken with the waterfall in front and mountain as backdrop. It is a popular and thus busy area to visit, very hard to get people out of your photos. The walk is quite short from parking. However, parking is also at a cost of 1,000 ISK and there are cameras on site to track cars going in/out. However, despite all this, it is still worthwhile to go check out and without a doubt will be among the most beautiful of spots you visit during your stay and worth the time/effort to check out! If you find any of this information to be helpful, please consider thanking :)

Worth a visit, be aware of crowds
Very pretty waterfall and mountain. However, crowds of people (a cruise ship was in port and I believe this is why it was so crowded). Be aware crossing the road from the parking lot to the mountain as cars did not stop/slow down. I would recommend visiting but if you can time it early in the day or evening g it would be a less crowded experience.

    Waterfall and mountain!
When you visit the Kirkjufell mountain you see this waterfall that is right near the mountain. Access is easy and close to the highway. Parking is paid (don't forget to pay, otherwise the fine will come). The day was very cloudy and we could hardly see anything. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes for trekking.

It’s a must-see iconic location in whole Iceland. Those who are complaining about the size of the falls or the viewing angle of the mountain from the main viewpoint compared to others in Iceland totally missed the point that it’s the unique combination of a symmetrical arrowhead mountain in the backdrop with cascading waterfalls in front makes this iconic location perhaps the most photogenic spot in a country bathed in beauty. So if you are visiting the third most expensive country in the world, don’t skip this spot just because it costs $5 to park for 24 hours and others are there to soak in the gorgeous view. If you want a smaller crowd and the best view under the best light, go there around sunrise or sunset and watch the clouds and fogs painted in golden hour light dance around the majestic peak. Beside the obvious view of the falls with the mountain backdrop, there is also a beautiful lake/lagoon where you can find amazing reflection of the mountain on a calm day. If you have decided to skip all these majestic views just because the parking costs $5 or the view may not be as heavenly in the middle of a overcast or totally cloudless day or when the mountain is totally hidden behind heavy fog, which happens frequently, you won’t know what you have just missed. No trip to Iceland is complete without a pilgrimage to iconic Kirkjufell.

I was very excited for the Kirkjufell Mountain but of course I didn't account for the bad weather... yet at the end of the day it was a very pleasant stop and one everyone should make on their trip through the Snaefellsjökull peninsula! We didn't go "across the street" to hike up the mountain so I can't tell how that goes but the waterfall visit was pretty pleasant, despite the bad weather, and the background of the mountain is one of the very unique opportunities in Iceland - that mountain, despite "just being" a mountain has something magical about it!

The parking here serves both locations - the waterfall and the mountain, whichever hike you are undertaking/locations visiting you end up parking at the same lot and you need to pay - the camera recognizes your car's license plate and measures how much time you spent in the park... it's just couple dollars for the stay by default picks up 24h departure time so you have a tone of time :)

TIP: despite paid parking lot there are not restrooms here, just a very convenient parking to explore both nearby attractions

Iconic view of Iceland and a must-see. This was my 3rd visit there but was shocked to see that they have installed number plate recognition cameras and now make you pay to park. There were three car parks for this attraction and the cameras are fitted to the main one. They have now place large boulders blocking off access to the overflow car park opposite to force you pay to park in the main one. At the time of my visit there was still the third tiny car park just along the road towards Olafsvik but there were men working who looked to be in the process of fencing this off too. Given the amount of revenue generated by tourists staying in the area this is not necessary and left me with a a bitter feeling. It does have to be seen if you have not been there before.

The scenic combination of the waterfall and the mountain is certainly unique in Iceland. But it is one of the ever more places that pay for their easy accessibility: spacious, well paved, outrageously expensive parking lot, crowds of tourists in bathing slippers, crowds of photographers all taking the same pictures, all leaving after 10 minutes.
Perhaps the vibes are different if you visit the place during quieter hours, but during the daytime it is just depressing.

The waterfall and the Kirkjufell mountain in the background offer a beautiful view. The parking lot is paid and the path next to the waterfall is a bit narrow for so many people. But despite of these, it's definitely worth a look.

Kirkjufellfoss waterfalls are located across the iconic Kirkjufell mountain. While the mountain looks mighty and picture perfect, the waterfalls were pretty underwhelming.
During our Iceland tour we saw several higher and much more attractive waterfalls, so these were very average to us.
If you want to visit them you must pay for the parking, however they're totally visible from the main road passing by.

This is a rather modest, but accessible waterfall in the shadow of Kirkjufell Mountain. I wouldn't drive up here just for the waterfall, but the mountain is iconic. So if you're here, you may as well see it. The waterfall is adjacent to the small pay parking lot where you would go to see the mountain.

A small waterfall compared to ones you see elsewhere in Iceland. But it is popular due to the view it has of the famous kirkjefell mountain. The mountain is seen as an perfect arrow head from the waterfall. And you can take amazing photos combining both the waterfall and the mountain. It's located very close to the main road. A parking is available but you have to pay a small fee for it.

We rented Airbnb right by Kirkjufell Mountain, so we stopped by the waterfall after we checked in. We read plenty of the article about how small it is, so our expectation was adequate. However, with the GOT mountain in the background and covered in snow, I can see why this fall attracts so many folks. I was bit surprised to see about 15 people or so taking pictures with tripods and expensive camera equipment even after the sunset. Those are hardcore enthusiast right there, and I hope their pictures came out better than mine...

A great photo opportunity of Kirkufjell mountain and associated waterfall. Can get very busy with coach tours but still managed to get some good photos.

Car park is currently being upgraded and will shortly start charging for parking.
