Zvartnots is a newly excavated byzantine site which has been sympathetically restored in part. Historic value is impossible to rate and it is a site not to be missed to understand the religious beginnings of Armenia. Accessible from Yerevan via public transport. Complex of buildings...More

The Churches of Echmiadzin, are like the Ankur Wat temples in Cambodia. It is a city of churches and monasteries. The major ones are Saint Hripsime,Saint Gayane,Zvartnots cathedral and the Echmiadzin cathedral. These are all functioning and beautiful.

Ruins of a beautiful and elegance cathedral with magnificent architecture. You should buy tickests but it worth to visit there in the way to visit Etchmiadzin Cathedral

If it is possible try and visit the still preserved Zoroastrian fire temple beneath the Cathedral. Access is through a small door after you walk through the reliquary area on the right after entering the building. The contrast and the notion of continuance of "faith"...More

You need to visit the museum first to be able to interpret the ruins. Whilst there we were fortunate to hear an impromptu performance by a professional quartet
