Pleasant but crowded
May 2017
Having lived in Zhanjiang for many years I have often vsited this park and found it to be generally clean and pleasant, but like most places in China very crowded, especially at weekends.

Interesting Bridge with a Fun History
May 2012 • Couples
My wife and I work at Guangdong Ocean University, and we take every opportunity to visit all the historical sites in the area. In the Zhanjiang area, Chikan has many places of interest including the historical French buildings mentioned by the previous reviewer (which actually are about 2-4 blocks away from Cunjin park). Sadly most people in the area do not know their own history which makes places difficult to find.

Cunjin Bridge is located in the middle of Cunjinqiao Park and has a fun traditional history. Different people will tell you different stories, but the main idea is that the bride would ceremonially walk across the bridge to her betrothed.

If you are in the Chikan area, Cunjin Park is not to be missed. It will not take you all day to visit it, so explore the neighborhoods around the park and you will discover old French architecture that has been run down and assimilated into the disrepair of the surrounding Chikan homes. In the back of Cunjin Park is the Chikan Museum which has the Chinese historical account of the villagers fight for independence from the French and many stone dogs outside behind the museum.

Relic of the French colony in China
Mar 2012 • Solo
I visited Zhianjiang especially to find the remains of Guangzhouwan, the old French colony in China that was supposed to match Hong Kong and Macau. However, there is no information in Zhanjiang about the colony (at least not in English that I could find) and even the concierge at the Crown Plaza had never heard of any French colonial buildings in Zhanjiang.

So, I made my way to the Cunjin Bridge, which was supposed to mark the border between Guangzhouwan and China. The bridge looked nice enough I suppose but I couldn't help thinking there was probably a cool French colonial building or two just around a corner.
