A beautiful place by the ocean : a small valley full of coconut trees surrounded by steep mountains with several waterfalls cascading down. There are two (free) parking sites, a restaurant and a kiosk selling snacks.

We hiked northwards along the coast towards "La coulée de lava 1977", about 3 to 4km one way. You'll walk along jagged lava cliffs and deep brushwork with ocean views and the sound of the swell all the way. The trail is quite well-kept and leads to a peninsula of new lava that was formed during an eruption in 1977. When you turn inland, you'll get to the small village Saint-Rosé with the small church "Notre Dame de Laves" rising out of the lava. In 1977 it had miraculously survived the lava streams and now there is a nice story about this wonder that you can learn about in the Chappelle.

Beautiful spot with everything you can ask for! Waterfalls, a river, palm trees, the ocean- there are just so many beautiful things for the eye to rest on. Right in front of the bottom parking area is the slipway to the sea for small boats, which gives you a viewpoint of the 'beach' To the right is the restaurant and the waterfalls and to the left is the forested area with picnic spots and a small fresh fruit smoothie bar. Pack a picnic and lounge around at one of the gazebo's, where there is also braai/bbq area. Or kick back at the small restaurant, or grab a smoothie or ice cream and take a walk!
Lots of stray dogs who are friendly enough and will follow you around if you have food- but we found this in most spots in Reunion.
Very lush, green and damp so be sure to spray your legs for mosquitos! With so much water around, they are big, healthy and are happy to bite away at you!
Very tranquil and gives your soul time to recharge if you've had a busy day- quiet and peaceful.

Incredible place, so refreshing on a hot day, beware of the big mosquitoes. I wish to return, one of the highlights of our trip. Don't miss it

The Anse des Cascades is a magnificent place with a relaxing setting, the perfect place to recharge your batteries. Waterfalls, stream, sea and a vast area for picnicking, the only remark I would have to make is that there is a lack of kiosk and parking space
