The Agnus Dei catholic church is well worth a visit, also known as the Church of the Holy Cross. The only Catholic church in Kos and served by the Franciscan community from Rhodes and visiting priests from other countries. Holy Mass is celebrated in the garden area during the summer. The church was built by the Italian soldiers during the war and there are many of them interred in the grounds. Very welcoming international community if you do visit to attend mass.

this was a return visit for Whit Sunday mass, unfortunately the damage sustained in last years earthquake is still evident and the church building is unsafe to enter. However there is a side chapel which is outside where mass is being held. The cemetery is still accessible and is well worth a visit. The parish is not at all wealthy and would be grateful for any donations that visitors could spare.

I went to this church as i looked into the 2nd world war and the killings of the italian officer's by the german soliders in kos. I also went to the place in happend. Was very interesting even tho it seems to be not very well known. The church has a nice marbel stone with the officers names on. It is a nice small church with lots of history here.

Went for Sunday mass and found it was quite small but beautiful. The walk down the county lane is the start of a wonderful experience. The cemetery is well kept and spine tingling, the church itself holds about 30 and you so easily loose yourself in its beauty.

Near the archeologic site you find the Agnus del Catholic church. This church has all sunday a mess for tourist and for all other needs for catholic, the catolics can ask information. There is also a cimetery by the church. Nice and lovely church arounded of cipress trees.

Lovely walk up to this Church, a beautiful tree lined route. Sadly Church still badly damaged and closed. Sad looking around cemetery at the memorial to the Italian soliders. Very humbling and thought provoking experience

The church is situated at about 300m from Casa Romana. Before 1948, the Agnus Dei parochial church was located near the seafront; that impressing building was transformed in Orthodox church, a Metropolitan one (its Romanesque architecture is clearly atypical for a Greek Orthodox church). So, the existing Agnus Dei parochial church is a relatively new building, with an elegant design. Unfortunately, it was seriously damaged by the earthquake which hit Kos in June 2017; however, the religious service is still officiated, just outside the building. Near the church there is a small cemetery, with a memorial stone dedicated to the Italian solders who refused to continue the war after the surrender of their country (September 1943) and were shut by Nazis (Kos was under German occupation in the WWII). Between the ruins of Casa Romana and the remaining of Italian solders, it is a good place for reflecting to Ecclesiastes' words.

Yes mass is at 6.00pm on Saturday evening/11.00am Sunday morning and 6.00pm Sunday evening. The Franciscans from Rhodes and any visiting priests celebrate mass. You can always double check Catholic Church in Rhodes web site.

I study organ and I'm searching for an instrument to practise in while I'm on Kos.
