Lovely service and great food. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and we was warmly greeted. The menu was varied and we were served quickly. The service was great and very friendly and the food tasted delicious. We will return!

I meet my daughter every couple of weeks at The Miners , its a very friendly , family oriented pub and restaurant with a mixture of bar areas, pool tables, areas to socialize and tables .

It's excellent value for money and the team are so helpful

We visited as a guest at a funeral tea. We were the first to arrive at 10.45am, but although cups were displayed on the bar we decided on soft drinks to start with.
We later decided to have a coffee and the coffee was poured from a previously "brewed" container. Very little milk was used as one coffee was black.
I returned to my table and the waitress came over asking for payment. I queried whether we should be charged as we were clearly in the funeral group and no one else had been charged as it was included.
The manager insisted on being paid and rather than create a scene at such a sad occasion, I did pay.
I was surprised at such a penny pinching attitude and I won't be returning to this pub.
I thought customer appreciation/service should be on a better level in these circumstances.
The arrival of Weatherspoons and one other new pub in this area will have an impact on The Miners, especially with this sort of attitude at a funeral tea!

The pub does exceptional food particularly the burgers which is 2 for 1 on a Tuesday! It is a great place for a quiet week day treat or a lively night during the weekend, they usually have a live band on a Saturday which enhances the atmosphere even more. Highly recommend to anyone wanting a quiet drink and it is much better than the other local pubs.

My partner & I called one late afternoon & as we were looking at the menu a friendly young man who was serving suggested the special offer of 2 meals for £12. I had a burger with chips. The chips were very nice but the burger was nothing special. My partner had the vegetable lasagne which she stated was ok. Service was friendly but the interior is of a very basic pub.

We called at ' The miners ' for a meal , we hadn't been here in years so thought we'd give it a go . I ordered Whitby scampi , chips and peas , my Hubbie ordered cottage pie with veg . The food came within about 20 mins which was impressive , but it stopped there !! . My hubbies cottage pie looked thrown together , the mash on top was white and not even grilled ( which tells me it was just popped in the microwave for 2 mins , the meat content was terrible , I've seen more meat in my dog food !! , we were expecting a small jug of gravy to pour over , so shouted waitress over , only to be told they don't serve gravy with it !!!! Ehhhhhhhhh lol ( are we in yorkshire or what ) . Anyway we preceded to carry on eating , then my Hubbie said its clap cold , the veg isn't even hot , by this time we were fed up and called the waitress over to ask for a refund on his meal as he wasn't happy . It was £7.95 !!!! And wasn't worth half of that .

As for my meal , it said Whitby scampi & I asked the waitress if it was definitely Whitby scampi and she said yes ....... Well it wasn't , I'm from Whitby and I know for a fact that it isn't , there were too many chips and not enough scampi !! . The chips were lovely ( bit like the ones you get in a chippy ) . I personally didn't mind my meal but the whole experience was ruined as I was sat there eating on my own , while my Hubbie had 1 or 2 of my chips to put him on till he got home . The surroundings are lovely and the staff were only too glad to help . I wouldn't rule out giving it another try but my advice to the landlord would be to maybe tell the cook to brush up on his presentation & timing skills .

I went with a friend for lunch on Wednesday and was extremely disappointed. Firstly we couldn't sit in the restaurant area as it had been completely taken over for a staff training meeting (I think customers should take priority especially as the games room wasn't being used which could have been used for the meeting!). The staff were really nice but we had to wait an hour for our meal to arrive.
My friend ordered a pasta which she said was bland & I ordered Piri Piri chicken, which was just chicken with a small portion of Piri Piri sauce on it NOT marinaded like Piri Piri chicken should be! See photo.

This is a nice friendly family pub with a good food and drink selection at reasonable prices. I wish I could have given a higher rating but having to wait 1hr 20mins for your food is very disappointing. Luckily for us we were not in a rush, but I got the impression that this speed of service is not uncommon. Not ideal when with kids. If you just want a drink, I would have said excellent. Sorry!!

This place has defiantly up'd its game! Its clean, staff are nice, it's not as cheap as the gascoigne but you can tell the difference in quality. I'd defiantly suggest to people to go here instead of next door!
