The Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka (Sinhala: ශ්‍රී ලංකා පාර්ලිමේන්තුව Shri Lanka Parlimenthuwa) is the supreme legislative body Sri Lanka. It alone possesses legislative supremacy and thereby ultimate power over all other political bodies in the island. It is modeled after the British Parliament.

It consists of two hundred and twenty-five (225) members known as Members of Parliament (MPs). Members are elected by proportional representation for five-year terms, with universal suffrage. Parliament reserves the power to make all laws.

The President of Sri Lanka has the power to summon, suspend, prorogue, or terminate a legislative session and to dissolve the Parliament. The Speaker or, in his absence the Deputy Speaker and Chairman of Committees or the Deputy Chairman of Committees, presides over Parliament.

haven't been iINSIDE the comedy hall. not ever going to be. but the surroundings are beautifully maintained. the state building looks stately. theirs is purported security activity constantly around the main gate. what with daily strikes of all sectors & in all manner. the green keeps the people at length. the brown pebble border allows keen weight-watchers to shed pounds as they briskly walk/run. the car park is commendably redone to accommodate kids who cycle, scoot, roller skate etc.
