We really enjoyed the wines of Di Filippo. We were given 6 of them to taste (unfiltered white sparkling, Grechetto, Sangiovese, Montefalco Rosso, Sagrantino & Sagrantino Passito) and they were all wonderful. Bottles were beautifully designed (we especially liked the artwork on the label of Montefalco Rosso and the medal on Sagrantino). Our group of ten people really enjoyed the food too, though we had to ask for a refill because obviously one board of cheeses, one board of meats and a basket of torta al testo are not enough for a big group trying six wines. We all bought wines at the end. The electricity went off so we had to pay cash, otherwise we would have bought even more bottles. Thank god we could pay for the tour by card right before the incident happened. We took a carriage tour and wine tasting which costs €28 per person. The horse carriage is fun, though it’s literally trotting through the vineyards so don’t expect any commentary. Take some photos and relax. At one point the carriage is stopped for about ten minutes to explain you how their bio winery works while you are sitting. One of the two carriages was not covered so it was extremely hot under the sun (38 degrees is not a joke). Please keep it in mind and make sure you are prepared for this - take a hat and cover yourself or use a good sunscreen because my arms burned really bad. Horses were cute and we briefly saw some geese from the carriage. Coachmen were nice and spoke good English.

Di Filippo was recommended to us by a friend who lives in the area and is very connected to the Slow Food movement. This was first time anyone explained bio-dynamic winemaking in a way that made sense and didn't just sound like a bunch of woo - I did squeeee! like a 10 year-old when I got to make friends with a couple of the draft horses, but I also appreciated learning how the use of horses (as opposed to tractors or trucks) to work the vineyards prevented the soil from getting compacted, and how their farming methods protected and nurtured the microbiome of the soil and improved the wine. Really excellent sample of local cheeses and wines, too.

We visited the winery with a group of 9 friends and had a great time enjoying the 8 different wines they offered and the local delicate antipasti. We sat there for several hours and enjoyed the atmosphere and wines. We even received a ride home to our villa by the staff! Really recommend a visit!

A sensational afternoon in the foothills of Mt Subasio with a one hour horse and carriage tour around the organic de Filippo vineyards and surrounding countryside, driven by Roberto who is very passionate about his horses, his wine, his geese and the terrain. This was followed by a winetasting accompanied by huge platters of cheese and meats, and then chocolate... all appreciated, especially well with the sagrantino wines we must say. We bought a case of course so that the memories can linger. Near Montefalco. So informative and so fun!

We've went there for a trip with the horses, due to the bad weather we've only did a winetasting with pairing of cheese and meat. tasting was OK, tasted 2 whites & 5 reds, and as a cherry on the cake one bottle of passito that was sold out. Pitty: we bought 100+EU on wine and still had to pay for our tasting. No problem but would have made it a little extra.
