Busy street market scene in the St. Anthony's District
Feb 2020
Rotunda de Carlos da Maia (Three Lamps District) is located near Avenida de Horta e Costa in the St. Anthony's District. It takes its name from the iron light post which stands in the centre of the rotunda. In the distant past, European villas surrounded the square. However, what you see now are local residential buildings.

This area is known as a shopping district for locals. The streets in the area are very active with stalls and shops selling food produce, sundries and other consumables. The street market scene extends to the north covering several blocks all the way to the Red Market landmark building. It is a good area to see how local Macau residents go about their daily lives.

Nothing much to talk about as it was just a small short lane of simple food and such, was looking for the street market nearby but couldn't find it. So got some fruits only in this street

Nice area to eat and shop local

This area has many local street food and also the quick cafe and restaurant. Great place to try local flavor instead of those international brand. The deep strew pork with ginger on the corner of the round ball was delicious.

Local Bazaar street market scene on the Macau Peninsula
Jan 2019 • Solo
The Three Lamps District is where you find an local street bazaar around Rotunda de Carlos De Maia in the St. Anthony's Parish of Macau. While the tourists hit the expensive malls, this is where locals in Macau do their more affordable shopping.

Here you find several streets lined with stalls selling fruit, vegetables, packaged foods and other consumables. Lots of small shops and eateries in the area as well. It is active market for local shoppers, especially during weekends.

Three Lamps District lots of action
May 2017
Three Lamps District lots of action on this round-a-bout. Get into the side streets and small local shops for the real action and fun stuff/scene.

small but with everything

That's the place where i always have lunch with friends. A lot of traditional and tasty restaurants are located there. For example some Myanmar food or something else. This is the pace with the Philippine workers do the gathering. As a local citizen in Macau, I strongly recommended the visitors go there for feeling the traditional food and atmosphere of Macau. If you buy things there, you can bargain also !!!

Very nice area for walk around or just getting lost in the tourist area.

uphill walking but eventually it evens out. Easier to navigate once you get to the tourist area. Good food choices around but just for snack foods mostly.

Dec 2014 • Friends
Ther are ,all the time, 4 lamps in this round about. When people looking at these lamps, the middle lamp covered the lamp at the back, therfore ,only 3 lamps can be seen. This is a place for South-East Asian cuisines,like:-Thai,Malay and Vietnamese,etc..

Three Lamps District - local street market scene
Apr 2014 • Couples
The Three Lamps District is a busy shopping area in the northern area of the Macau Peninsula. It is the scene of an active street market that starts at Rotunda de Carlow De Maia.

Interestingly, the name 'Three Lamps District' refers to a single post with three small lamps that is situated in the public space found at Rotunda de Carlos De Maia. However, the shopping area reaches several blocks in all directions and as far north as the historic Red Market building.

Here you can find an entire area, jam packed with small shops, eateries and street market vendors, selling all manner of products, consumables and food to local residents. Unfortunately, very few visitors make their way to this area of Macau. However, the market scene is very interesting here and this is one of the better places to see how local residents go about their daily lives in Macau.
