Probably because I'm not a gambling fan and dislike the casino vibe but still had to visit Macau. Narrow alleys, a bustling crowd nibbling on the multiple street food options, plus a tiny remnant of the wetlands, a nice walking trail at the nearby park... and even a couple of casinos if you feel you miss them on this side of the bridge.

Taipa is a must for all first-time Macau visitors. The small collection of alleys with colonial charm is the most popular attraction in the area. Nearly all tourist shops have an outlet here. This is also the best time to visit as the streets are not fully saturated at this moment.

Location is very good just opposite of Galaxy. Many restaurants and shops there. Selection of local eateries such as snacks, irresistible cakes and pastries, and light bites. Famous Lord Stow’s egg tart is also here. Lighting shows in night time. If you want a break of GRAND things in big casinos, come strolling in Taipa Village to feel good old charm.

Yes, it is a nice place, but not one that will auger 5 stars.
We went during the Lunar New Year, so there are many decorations all around for phototaking.
Overall, a nice part, and walkable to Venetian Casino.
But other than that, it is a average place.

The lanes of Taipa are undergoing rapid touristification and more and more souvenir ships are moving in. But if you catch it on a quiet morning, you still get the feeling of old Macau. Take to the side streets and park.

Took a shuttle bus to the Venetian and walked over via the west wing, there was a long travelator that led to the Taipa Village. The village is tiny, but offers interesting sights and food. There were a few souvenir shops that sold cheap souvenirs to bring home as well as various food establishments. Tried the egg tarts for 10MOP, and Durian Ice Cream 30 MOP as well as a local style (some kind of Portuguese) pasta for 45MOP. Overall an alright trip, spent around 1.5hrs there.

This is a small tourist district within walking distance from the Venetian hotel. It's filled with local shops and eateries. It is very geared towards tourists so you will see lots of souvenirs and tourists. The area is not large, so I think it will take at most an hour of your time.

I've attached pictures and directions of where you will need to head towards to get to Taipa Village.

Taipa village is a lovely historical area to spend a few hours during trips to Macau. Here you can find a handful of traditional Portuguese restaurants, coffee shops, places to shop, a couple of decent museums, church and temple visits to make.

Top eateries in Taipa include Antonio, O'Santos, A Petisqueira, Dumbo, Tai Lei Loi Kei (pork buns) as well as Macanese snack shops like Koi Kei Bakery and Choi Heong Yuen. There are coffee shops in the area as well like Kafe Laku and Starbucks. Old Taipa Tavern is popular with some local and expats as well.

There is a nice temple, Pak Tai Temple and Our Lady of Carmel Church as well as the Taipa Houses Museum and the Museum of Taipa and Coloane History.

There is a nice, relatively new shop on Rua Do Cunha called Cunha Bazaar, which has three floors of locally made products. This is a nice place to spend a bit of time and perhaps money. There are other souvenir shops in the area as well, most make a stop at Koi Kei for Macau's most famous souvenirs - phoenix rolls, almond biscuits and jerky-style braised meats.

Tip: You can take bus 11,22,25,28A,33 from the city center bus depot, near the Grand Lisboa, which stops in Taipa village (MOP 6.20 per person), taxi fare is around MOP 40-45 from the Lisboa area.

Tip: From the Venetian Hotel, there is now an escalator bridge and long walkway near the West hotel entrance that goes almost the entire way to the Taipa Village, making the walk time around 10 minutes only.

Tip: From the City of Dreams, there is a shuttle bus that shuttles visitors to Taipa Village every 12-15 minutes, starting from 12.15pm in the afternoon.

We walk from venetian west bus station to Taipa Village only 15min. No need to take taxi. No shuttle bus too. Came here for eating egg tart @$10, 6 for $55 and pork chop bun.

Walking and mingling with locals and foreigners along its tiny yet well decorated and maintained streets is a must. It has a blend of old and modern designs where the juxtaposition between the past and the present melts. Lots of good restaurants and bars to enjoy Cantonese and international food. Cotai and its fancy hotels, high-end dinning restaurants and casinos is just at its back by 10 min. walking distance.
