Vquarium - was a decent attraction while it lasted
Nov 2018
Vquarium was a neat attraction just inside the side entrance of City of Dreams (COD) prior major renovations that took place a few years ago.

Basically, this was a large scale LED projection of mermaids, jellyfish and other aquatic life swimming in the sea. The calming scene was projected upon the entire inner wall in the large entrance area.

It was highly visible upon entering COD and gave many guests a fun impression. The mermaids would appear suddenly, swim around a bit before disappearing, this always gave you reason to pause to see if one would appear when you passed through COD.

Anyway, Vquarium has been gone for a couple of years now. TripAvisor should probably close this listing.

Ariel the mermaid swimming around a fish tank and was projected on the screen. She looked pretty but not entertaining.

It's a... video screen
Oct 2016 • Couples
This is just two video screens that display large ads and sometimes some image of sea with mermaids randomly appearing. How is this a sight? There are video screens everywhere in Macau and Hong Kong.

Good... for a few selfies and then time to move on
Nov 2015 • Family
The screen is pretty cool upon first glance. It's unique and fun to watch the mermaid and virtual water across the large screens. Snap a few photos/selfies then move on.

Child-friendly entertainment at City of Dreams
Aug 2015 • Couples
One of the interesting things to see at City of Dreams is the LED screen projection of an underwater scene, called Vquarium. This minor attraction takes up a large section of wall space in the main open area below the SOHO restaurant area, can be viewed freely and runs 24 hours a day.

Here you can see occasional mermaids, jellyfish and other sea life that appear for a few seconds for visitors to take photos, before vanishing again. It is fun activity for those with families and a good way to kill time for 4-5 minutes, waiting to see where the next mermaid image will appear.

Further, the floor space around Vquarium has been used for display for the past couple of years. They had some neat setups to promote the SOHO area upstairs prior to its opening in 2014. Presently, there is a LEGO display of the soon-to-be-opening Studio City property just down the Cotai Strip. This is neat to see, perhaps even more than the Vquarium mermaids.

In the end, just a minor attraction, something interesting to see if and when you pass by during visits to City of Dreams. Have a quick look and then be on your way to other sightseeing, shopping or dining plans you may have.

Fun for kids to walk by but don't take much time for it
Nov 2014 • Couples
The Vquarium is a neat place to walk through in the City of Dreams, especially for kids. It is a mermaid that appears to be swimming in an aquarium and interacting with the other wildlife on the screen. Not worth a trip on it's own but take the 3min if you will already be in the City of Dreams complex for gambling, a show, dinner or just exploring the Taipa side of Macau.

LED screen with fake mermaids
Jul 2013
Entering City of Dreams at the main bus arrival station one is greeted with this huge screen showing a underwater world with fish and fake mermaids. interesting for about 3 minutes and then it just blends into the background. If that would be a real aquarium it would be great but right now its like a huge windows screensaver.

Huge virtual aquarium with fish, some jellyfish and occasional mermaids
Aug 2011 • Couples
Upon walking into the main lobby area of the City of Dreams complex from the bus arrival area, not the entrance off Cotai Strip, you will see the huge virtual aquarium that at first doesn't look to be of much interest. However, as we passed by a couple times, we suddenly noticed a huge group looking at the screen, watching a mermaid that seemed to be looking back at the crowd. Shortly after, she swam off! We waited for her to return but she didn't so we left. After a few more visits we discovered that the appearances of the mermaids was somewhat random and the length they stayed on the Vquarium seemed to be unpredictable, making it sort of fun to try and spot them.

Overall, this is not really an attraction you target in Macau but it was fun to have a look if you are planning to visit the City of Dreams (COD) or stay at one of its partnering hotels. It seems child-friendly, like the rest of the attractions at COD but a couple of the mermaids were were supporting rather curvy figures and seemed to lack much coverage up top so you might want to cover the kiddies eyes if you think they are too revealing (it's not that bad).

City of Dreams has other child-friendly forms of entertainment as well. These include the excellent House of Dancing Water show, The Dragon Treasure show and the Kid's City interactive play area that can be seen in addition to the Vquarium.
