Greenbelt park in the NAPE area of the Macau Peninsula
Apr 2018 • Solo
Jardim Dr. Carlos d'Assumpção along with Comendador Ho Yin Garden are two connecting gardens that form a green belt through the NAPE area of the Macau Peninsula, connecting Avenida de Amizade to Avenida Dr Sun Yat Sen.

Here you will find a two lovely rows of trees that provide a long shaded walkway down the middle of the park. Plenty of park benches. There is a large koi pond with a walking bridge near the south end of the garden and an open space where seasonal decorations are usually on display.

The garden is unfortunately a bit out of the way for the majority of visitors who will be spending time elsewhere in Macau. However, it is a good and quiet garden area for those who happen to find themselves nearby. You'll find the iconic Kun Iam Statue at the south end of Jardim Dr. Carlos d'Assumpção.

A Park with Brilliant Free Wifi
Sep 2017 • Friends
Interesting to see no one gives this five stars!!! I do. This is a fine park that embodies the spirit of the community and was opened by the former Portuguese Governor.

Open 6am - 11pm.

One often sees disabled people in wheelchairs in this park - relaxing. There is a children's play area with the usual climbing frame, swings etc. There is a communal keep fit area with free of charge to use equipment. Plenty of comfortable bench seating. Such a joy to sit in this park and catch up on your email etc.

This is the only public park I have been to that advertises and has free public wifi, not just free wifi but the connectivity is excellent. It is provided by the Government and all you need to do is log on and accept.

Nice lily pond at the 'sea' end of the park.

IMPORTANT: Look on your map for location - the Trip Advisor location is quite wrong!

Quite green park in the NAPE area of Macau
Feb 2016 • Solo
Jardim Dr. Carlos d'Assumpção is located in the area of Macau known as the NAPE, which is a land reclamation with a grid street plan and quite a few tall residential towers. This is the corridor green park that runs down the middle of the NAPE connecting Avenida de Amizade to Avenida Dr Sun Yat Sen.

While few tourists will likely wonder into this park, it is actually quite interesting. In addition to some exercise equipment, there is a long row of trees with a centre walkway here. This seems very much out of place here in Macau. However, it creates much shade and there are rarely many people here, making this a quiet place to sit and rest.

The park also includes a pond with bridge as you approach the large scale Kun Iam Statue, situated in the harbour. Sadly, this little pond was not in good shape last time I looked. Lots of algae made it difficult to see the submerged pots and koy fish swimming around. Could use some attention and hopefully soon.

Overall, not a priority city park for visitors to Macau but potentially an interesting place if you are staying at Grand Lapa which is not too far away or perhaps Starworld, Wynn or MGM for a few days and looking for a quiet green park with few people.

Comendador Ho Yin Garden - an extension of Dr. Carlos d'Assumpcao Park
Feb 2015 • Couples
Comendador Ho Yin Garden is an extension of Dr. Carlos d'Assumpcao Park, this being the area between and including the Orient Arch at Av do Dr. Rodrigo Rodrigues and Ave. Amizade. Collectively these represent the longest uninterrupted green space in Macau.

Here you can find the interesting Oriental Arch structure as well as a leisure area for local residents, including exercise equipment for the elderly, some playground area for children, Portuguese style tiled walkways, some tree-lined paths and park benches in this surprisingly quiet space.

Unfortunately, location isn't ideal for the vast majority staying in more centrally located areas of Macau, putting you closer to other and probably more interesting gardens, parks and open space in Macau. However, for those staying at Rio Hotel, Metropark, Holiday Inn, Landmark and Emperor hotels, Comendador Ho Yin Garden is within reach if needed.

In front of the Kun Iam Statue, more a park for locals
Jan 2012 • Couples
We strolled the Avenues along Dr. Carlos d'Assumpcao Park and the park itself a couple times during our recent stay in Macau, finding it a peaceful place to walk. This long, narrow, stretch of city park is found between the famous Kun Iam Statue, just out into the harbor all the way to Avenida de Amizade where it changes into the Garden of Commander Ho Yin Garden, which continues until you reach the interesting Orient Arch.

Within these park area, you will find lots of park benches, the stationery exercise equipments, landscaped areas, bamboo shoots and children's play areas. This makes it a nice area to spend time but only if you are in Macau for a longer time.

Unfortunately, most visitors to Macau are here for just 1 or 2 days so this park will most likely not make their long list of priorities. Instead, you are more likely to visit the more famous and important gardens like the Luis de Comoes Garden, north of the Ruins of St. Paul, the beautiful Lou Lam leoc Garden just past Tap Seac Square or even the S. Francisco Garden just ten minutes walk towards the Historic Center of Macau.

Overall, we liked Dr. Carlos d'Assumpcao Park and would happily walk its grounds again if staying in this area of Macau. It is nice and peaceful here. However, it is really more a place for locals to rest and relax, and doesn't hold a tremendous amount of tourist visitation value. If visiting Macau with limited time, you'll probably enjoy some of the other parks and gardens better than this one.
