Small cosy place next to the Mandarin house
Nov 2019
A small secluded place with trees for a cooling rest on the tour to the historical buildings. You feel as if you are somewhere in Portugal, surrounded by beautiful historic houses. The way to the square from Senado Square is easy. Very well signposted tour to the historical sights. About 15 minutes walk. You are almost alone in the quiet alleys with little traffic.

Shady Square
Apr 2019 • Couples
Little square with matured trees and several benches for resting your tiring feet. It is a Portuguese style plazza and cooling with the heavy tree shade.

Historic square
Apr 2019 • Family
Largo do Lilau is a small square at the historic centre of Macau. The dated houses around the small plaza mark the legacy of Portuguese rule. It is a good place to take a seat and appreciate the beauty of the city.

Spring water came from here
Nov 2018 • Couples
Lilua Square was an area where the first Portuguese settled, and a local woman found a natural spring there and provided water for the poor people. The area was renovated towards the end of last century and you will always see a few locals sitting in the sheltered square.

Drink from Lilau and you will never forget Macau!
Apr 2018 • Solo
Lilau Square is the location of the first Portuguese residential quarter in Macau and a decent place to pass by while browsing the UNESCO World Heritage attractions in the city centre.

The original source of spring water in Macau was found at this location. Today, the location boosts various forms of architecture in the buildings the surround the small square including Chinese (fellow World Heritage - Mandarin's House), Portuguese and even Art Deco style buildings.

Interesting tidbit: There is a a local saying regarding Lilau square that 'one who drinks from Lilau will never forget Macau'.

A moment of chill for a sip of water after a long walk with friends around the old town in Macau. It was nice.

A Po (Grannies) under the big old tree
Oct 2017 • Friends
I passed by A Po Jing Square on my way to the town center. The 'A Po' (grannies) were enjoying the shades under the big old tree.

Small peaceful square
Oct 2017 • Family
This is a small peaceful square. There were some benches, which we sat on. As we had been walking and taking in all the sights and sounds of Macau, it was indeed a welcome relief to find the benches in this delightful square - so that we could rest our aching feet.

Nearby is the A Ma Temple and the Maritime Museum.

There is a kiosk where you can buy refreshments.

We saw various local people relaxing. It is a nice place to people watch.

Nice to Rest Here
Sep 2017 • Friends
Nice square located in the heart of old Macau, nearby the Mandarins House. It is referred to as this Historical Centre of Macau.

There is a shop / pavilion in the square selling ice cream and other sundries. Beware siesta starts at 1pm - not sure how long it goes on for. So the pavilion and the two artisans shops on the side of the square are all closed during siesta. Seats to take a rest on - nice to relax.
