Japanese Pavilion - Watase Seizo Exhibition (Aug to Sept 2019)
Sep 2019
Tap Seac Gallery continues to host surprisingly good international art exhibitions that are free to view. Opening hours are 10am to 7pm daily.

The gallery recently hosted a very interesting art show called Japanese Pavilion - Watase Seizo Exhibition (Aug - Sept 2019), showcasing a wide range of interesting artworks that made for an enjoyable 30 minute viewing during a recent visit to Macau.

We enjoyed seeing a fair number of the artists works and learning about his artistic style. Other related works that complemented Watase Seizo's works where also interesting to see.

A hidden gem in the city
Feb 2019 • Couples
To escape from the noisy and crowds this location is only 30 minutes away from east side of the main tourist area. This gallary is part of a cluster of historical Portugese legacy. Please visit and help to preserve them before they are gone under the Chinese rule.
為了擺脫嘈雜和人群,這個位置距離主要旅遊區的東側僅30分鐘。這個gallary是歷史葡萄牙遺產的一部分。請訪問並幫助保存它們。

One of the venues for the 3rd Macao Printmaker Triennial exhibition
Feb 2019 • Couples
Tap Seac Gallery (free entry) is at Tap Seac Square in the St. Lazarus Quarter and a good place to enjoy art exhibitions during visits to Macau. Opening hours are 10am to 9pm daily.

Presently, there is a very good 3rd Macao Printmaker Triennial exhibition (until 17 March 2019) taking place here as well as 4 other venues around the city. There are a total of 175 works being displayed amongst these venues, around 40-45 of which are here at the Tap Seac Gallery. Some of the works are very good, I particularly enjoyed the works coming from Polish and Thai artists.

I always enjoy stopping by Tap Seac Galley when spending time in this area of Macau. Exhibitions held here over the years have been pretty good, worth 15-30 minutes for anyone who enjoys viewing art during their travels.

Free international art exhibitions at Tap Seac Square
Apr 2018 • Solo
Tap Seac Gallery is located at Tap Seac Square in the St. Lazarus District. Interesting art exhibitions throughout the year, making this a potentially good stop to make while sightseeing in this area of Macau. Opening hours are 10am to 9pm daily.

The gallery is located within one of the attractive colonial period buildings with which line the back of Tap Seac Square. Here you find an open exhibition space used to exhibition works by international artists, using showcasing 40-50 pieces.

There is usually a large information panel with details about the artist and a description of the exhibition on display near the entrance to the gallery. This is good to read prior to viewing the artworks so you have a good idea of what you are looking at.

Exhibition of contemporary painter - Jorge Martins
Feb 2018 • Couples
There is presently an art exhibition at Tap Seac Gallery called Fiction and Drift featuring the works of renowned Portuguese contemporary painter, Jorge Martins. The gallery is open from 10am to 9pm daily. There around 23 oil on canvas painting being on display an the exhibition is free for the public.

The Martin's artworks have an illusory effect, often times creating a 3D impression when viewed carefully. We particularly liked Fantasia Cromatica (Chromic Fantasy) and the untitled piece in the back of the gallery, where several isolated objects and purple lady are connected across four connected canvases. This was an intriguing collage of objects, people and space.

Visitors can comfortably view the Martins works in 10-30 minutes depending on your interest. The exhibition will continue through 4 March 2018 for those interested.

Fifth stop on the 'An Experiment of Creativity' Walking Route in Macau
Jul 2016 • Couples
Tap Seac Gallery is the 5th stop along the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) sponsored 'An Experiment of Creativity' self-walking tour, which covers less visited attractions in the St. Lazarus District of Macau.

The 'An Experiment of Creativity' starts at the Kun Iam Temple on Avenida do Coronel Mesquita before calling upon two garden and a memorial house along Avenida do Sidonio Pais and Estrada de Adolfo. The trail then makes it way down the scenic Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida, where you see an entire street lined with colonial Portuguese buildings before arriving at Tap Seac Square where you find Tap Seac Gallery.

Tap Seac Gallery is one of Macau's surprising finds and what art fans will consider a hidden gem at Tap Seac Square. This little known gallery is little promoted when it comes to tourism in Macau. However, there have been some impressive exhibitions over the years. As such, if you have interest in the arts, it is well worth having a look at the gallery website to see what is currently being shown prior to visiting Macau. The gallery is open from 10am to 9pm daily and is free for all visitors.

Note: There are also exhibitions, more historical in nature, at the Macao Historical Archives office just next door. This is also worth a quick look inside if you are interested in learning about local history during your travels .

Art fans may want to allocate 20-30 minutes to view exhibitions at Tap Seac Gallery. Otherwise, just have a quick peek inside, enjoy the Portuguese colonial architecture of the building facade and proceed to view other buildings at Tap Seac Square, the next inclusion on the 'An Experiment of Creativity' heritage trail.

Note: For more information about the Tap Seac Gallery and to download maps for the 'An Experiment of Creativity' tour, visit the MGTO Website.

Note: Other attractions listed on the 'An Experiment of Creativity' heritage trail include the Kun Iam Temple, Flora Garden, Dr. Sun Yat Sen Memorial House, Lou Lim Ieok Garden, Tap Seac Square and St. Lazarus Church.

Excellent 'A Century of Posters' exhibition
Aug 2014 • Couples
We recently went to Tap Seac Gallery to see the 'A Century of Posters' exhibition, showcasing Dutch collector, Martijn F. Le Coultre's 80 rare and original posters from the 1880s to 1990s. Most of the collection were from Europe but there were a representation from other parts of the world as well.

We very much enjoyed seeing this impressive collection, most enjoyable seeing original posters like 'Champagne Ruinart' (1896) by Art Nouveau specialist Alfons Mucha as well as the '1st Art Exhibition of the Association of Austrian Visual Artists 'Secession' (1898) by Gustav Klimt, the father of the Viennese Secessionist Movement.

Other classic posters were on display like the US Army 'I Want You' (1917) poster by James Montgomery Flagg and French classic posters like Henri de Toulouse Lautrec's 'Ambassadeurs Cabaret' (1892) and Theophile Alexandre Steinlen's 'Black Cat Cabaret Tour' (1896).

In the end, this was an excellent exhibition, one of the very best which we have seen at the Tap Seac Gallery over the years. This was a fantastic "free" activity in Macau this summer.

Gallery inside the heritage building
Aug 2014 • Friends
I was attracted by the beautiful heritage building and then accidentally visited Tap Seac Gallery at http://www.macauart.net/TS/indexE.asp “A Century of Posters” (the exhibition I visited) is an excellent exhibition. It takes 15 mins from Ruínas da Antiga Catedral de São Paulo to Tap Seas Gallery on foot. It's nice walk that I can watch some old shops and interesting places on my way to Tap Seas Gallery.

Depends on the exhibition
Mar 2013 • Couples
Your enjoyment of this really depends on what exhibition there is. In any case, the place is small and I don't think you will spend more than 20 minutes there. Therefore unless you absolutely need to check every art gallery in Macau, there's no need to specially come here.
