What a beautiful building for a government headquarters! I found this place purely by accident after trying to find another site nearby (but never found it).
Despite being a government building, the architecture still retains a Portuguese facade with pink pastel paint.
The left of the property has a very nice lawn lined with palm trees, small ponds, and what appeared to be some sort of raised patio in the back of the compound.
It should be noted that this place was all gated up and had no access into the building.
It was, however, still an impressive and attractive looking building along this particular road and set against the lake.

One of the rare times that it is recommendable to make way to the Gov House of Macao SAR building is on Chinese New Year Day when the 238-metre dragon passes by and pauses in front of the pink facade of the building for photos.

The dragon stops here for just a couple minutes so you need to be quick on your feet if following it through the Historic Centre of Macau. Previous stop is at St. Augustine Square in front of the church. After a brief stop here, it returns to the main historic area to be photographed in front of St. Lawrence Church.

If you visit Macau during Chinese New Year periods in the future and want to follow the dragon as it weaves its way through the Historic City Centre, this is a great spot for pictures, especially when we have blue skies like this year (2016).

Before the handover to China' this was the Bella vista hotel. I was lucky enough to have enjoyed it back then. Special memories from stays and visits to the restaurant . Eating on the terrace was pretty amazing.
When did you visit option only had 2014/2015 and I was there before the hand back . So forgive me for putting recent date as visit.
If you do get chance to visit on the very few open to public days, it's a must do.

The Gov Headquarters of the Macau S.A.R. of the People's Republic of China building is the attractive pink coloured building found on Avenida da Praia Grande, along the North end of Nam Van Lake.

Unfortunately, the building itself and surrounding garden are only open to the public two days each year, 19 and 20 October. There is a 15 minute Cantonese guided tour of the front of the building and you can also tour the gardens. No English tours are given and there are no other opportunities for the public or tourists to Macau to enter these grounds to visit at this time.

The building frontage is worth having a look if you pass by this area. However, there are other traditionally decorated building to be seen within the Historic City Centre so this is not a priority stop to make if you are in Macau for a short trip.

Tip: A similar building near the Grand Lisboa, the Clube Miliar De Macau and the San Francisco Garden provide very similar building architecture, style and colour. You can get a much better look at this building if you want to see something similar to the Gov. HQ for the Macau S.A.R building.

This space is only open very rarely to the public, so they tend to make it very special with performances and fun things to do around the exterior of the building on those days. If your timing is right it is worth checking out.
