Learnt so much more about the Pearl River delta here then I did in Hong Kong, and yet its a fraction of the size of the museum in Hong Kong. Well put together in three languages.

One of two museums in Taipa Village worth a quick visit
Nov 2018 • Solo
The Museum of Taipa and Coloane History museum is one of two museums in Taipa Village. This one is located on Rua Correia da Silva in the teal green coloured colonial era property that formerly served as a public administration building.

The museum includes two floors of displays dedicated to the history of the fishing village of Taipa and Coloane, other industries that thrived here in the past as well as earlier period Portuguese administration. You'll see late 19th-century building excavations as well.

The museum is worth a 15-30 minute visit depending on your interest. Opening hours are 10am to 6pm daily (Closed on Mondays) and entry is now free for all visitors.

Worthwhile for 20 minutes...

...especially to get out of the heat! Given that it’s free, this lovely little museum is worth popping into to see its range of artefacts, including an excavated did on the ground floor and the models upstairs.

A Wonderful Little House of History
May 2018 • Couples
The non-casino area of Taipa is a nice little town, with walking streets and alleyways that have shops and local restaurants, some of which are in historic buildings. This is free museum of the history of the area has two floors and a lovely old staircase. The stuff on the first floor is not as interesting as the second, but the detailed stories are worth reading if you want to imagine old Macau.

HISTORY

The 5 houses of Portuguese architecture “Macanese Living Museum”, the “Exhibitions Gallery”, the “Creative Casa”, the “Nostalgic House” and the “House for Reception” with lively bright colors are well-maintained and managed.
Each houses either an exhibition, shop or museum with original furniture from previous inhabitants with various family heirloom memoirs and photographs which are well preserved.

Besides being a great backdrop for those special wedding/honeymoon pictures, The Taipa House Collection is of historic and cultural significance.

PARK

The Carmel Garden Park is nearby and on display were the 12 chinese zodiac signs by topiary.
Enjoy the gardens, the adjacent wetlands and Colonial times relics.
Wander off to the Venetian a short stroll away

Heritage site with “peek into the past”

Best of all, this attraction is free!

Well-worth a visit

We visited on Tuesday, which is a free admission day.

Displays show the interesting history of the area. The ground floor is a previous archaeological excavation site. The whole old town area is very interesting.

Worth a visit! Close to Rua do Cunha (官也街)
Aug 2016 • Family
My family and I visited the museum on a hot day in August 2016. The museum provides some information of the history and development of Taipa and it is fantastic to know more about the place instead of spending all day in shopping malls and casinos.

It only costs MOP5 per person for entrance ticket.

It is also a great escape under the hot sun and enjoy a bit of refreshing cool air!:)

Small museum with hidden treasures
May 2016 • Family
Inside a large tiffany blue colonial building houses a small museum that covers the history of Taipa and Coloane and is only a few steps from the Tin Hau temple and Tin Hau bus stop. You'll find exhibits on and learn about Taipa and Coloane's early civilisations, archaeological excavations (most notably an old Portuguese-style stone street), religious objects, agricultural exhibits and other neat historical items. It's a cheap entry fee (as little as $5 MOP for adults) and it's free entry on Tuesdays!

Come here to see five of Tiffany green building, inside it is to introduce the former Portuguese how life. Although the museum has five rooms, but there are only three opening up, every one of the space are not very big, the other time tickets per one person MOP 5, on Sunday free to visit. Plants outside the museum and watching the scenery out the most appealing to me, quiet, endless ocean views, sunrise, the sunset, the square in front seating area, there is a kiosk selling ice cream and drinks, sitting on a chair overlooking the pond opposite the Venetian hotel, this place can go to the Venetian electric trails and five minutes’ walk from Crown Street, also arrived here, it seems to link two different worlds. There was a garden up the slope, there are many pink flowers, trees, attracted many newcomers come here to find a view for their wedding photographs.
Walked a few minutes, I like a row tall trees arrange both sides of the wooden walkway, there is a large lawn around a small stage with artwork display on the grass. In recent years, the government will show a lot of models and lighting display at the festival. Last month, the White Day held lavender exhibition, but lavender higher around 30cm, I feel some disappointment. If you want to leave away from the crowds or like taking pictures, it is also very suitable to come here.

One of two interesting museums in Taipa Village
Feb 2016 • Couples
One of the two museums you can visit in Taipa Village is the Museum of Taipa and Coloan History (MOP5 per adult) which is located in a beautiful 1920's administration building for the islands of Taipa and Coloane. Opening Hours are 10am to 6pm, closed on Mondays. Free Entrance on Sundays.

There are a handful of exhibition rooms on two floors within the museum. The bottom floor rooms are dedicated to archeology efforts, accounts and finds around Taipa and Coloane. To the left of the museum entrance, there are two rooms with glass floors, allowing you to peer into the excavations of a late 19th century Portuguese building.

Upstairs rooms are dedicated to Taipa and Coloane island administration as well as their relationship with the colonial power of Portugal in recent centuries. There are displays also dedicated to past industry and economy for Taipa and Coloane Islands.

In the end, you can comfortably visit the Museum of Taipa and Coloane History in 15-20 minutes. It is an interesting place to learn a bit about how Taipa and Coloane used to be two separate islands, not connected by the Cotai Strip like they are today.

Note: Sadly, they no longer allow picture taking at this museum.
