worth a quick picture stop
Nov 2019
Beautiful and newly restored church. The church is located near Largo de Senado and is worth a short stop on the tour to the other historic buildings nearby (Mandarin House, St. Augustine's church, Theatro D. Pedro V). We only visited the church from the outside. Very well signposted tour to the historical sights, which by the way are all free of charge.

Great area to explore
Dec 2019 • Couples
While looking for another old part of Macau we found this fantastic little maze of streets. Comprising local restaurants, Philippine shops and arts this is a great area to explore. There is a wine shop come artist exhibition along these streets. A wonderful finds not far from the St Paul’s tourist precinct.

Beautiful church
Aug 2019
a very lovely, simple and pleasant church. I had been for an English mass on Sunday. It was really great. Remember, when you are sitting on the bench for the mass, don't keep your feet on the cushion provided in front. Its meant only for kneeling. This is what I was advised, when I sat comfortably by placing my feet. A Very good system. The mass was excellent.

Peaceful Church
Apr 2019 • Couples
This is one of the three oldest churches in Macau. Majestic and has long history of families of Portuguese sailors gathered on the front of the steps to pray and wait for their return. Peaceful and calm as we sat in the church.

Colourful church
Apr 2019 • Family
Igreja de Sao Lourenco is a church atop a small hill. Its facade is quite eye-catching. The interior is colourful but the line of donation boxes are a nuissance to the visitors.

Baroque Colonial church
Feb 2019 • Family
Colonialism and the reach of the Catholic church. This, and other local Macau churches remind me a bit Spain's presence in Mexico; where the high Baroque churches remain the mainstay of social institutions among the local population.

Oldest, Largest and Most Beautiful Portuguese Church in Macao
Apr 2018 • Solo
St. Lawrence's Church is the oldest, largest and most beautiful church in Macau and a very nice place to visit in the Historic Centre. Located along Rua de Sao Lourenco, the church was originally built by the Jesuits before 1560 while the present building dates back to 1846.

It boosts an impressive Neo-Classical facade that is pastel yellow in colour. There is a lovely staircase leading up church as well as a small garden with park benches upon terrace. The interior of the church is simple yet modestly elegant, offering unexpected hints of Baroque architecture and an attractive wooden ceiling soft blue in colour.

Note: While very similar in appearance, St. Lawrence's receives far fewer visitors compared to the popular St. Dominic's at Senado Square. That means quieter and far less crowded visits here. If possible, make time to see both while exploring Macao World Heritage.

Tropical baroque
Jun 2018 • Couples
This place deserves a short stop just to relax and enjoy both the church and the surroundings. It is a special architectonical style: tropical baroque, full of light and nice colors (yellow, blue and white).

Nice church.

Did not realize there would be so many churches in Macau. This was another small gem hidden away. Operational church, open to public. Good for a short stop and prayer. Very well looked after.

Historical Church in Macau
Mar 2018
Great place for crossing around Historical Area in Macau. Close with St. Augustine Square, so you can visit here after there. If you feel thirsty, get a line at Hui Lau Shan's stall & get a relax on the small garden there.
