This is a large open space in NAPE where you find the Sands Macao Hotel, Macau Handover Gifts Museum, Cultural Centre and the Macau Art Museum (MAM).

Here you'll find interesting pools with sculptures of a Portuguese caravel (ship) and another with contemporary shaped soldiers as well as large stretches of Portuguese cobblestone pavements known as calçada portuguesa.

We like to pass by this square before/after visiting one of the museums at Art Plaza. It is rare big and open space where you can get away from the crowds that drown the popular places like Senado Square in the Historic Centre of Macau.

Art Square is a large and open public space on the Macau Peninsula NAPE area near Fisherman's Wharf. It is located behind Sands Macao and stretches to the Macau Cultural Centre and Museum of Art (MAM).

One doesn't often associate Art Square with sightseeing in Macau but there are a few interesting places to potentially visit here. In addition to MAM and the Cultural Centre where performances are held throughout the year, this is also where you find the surprisingly good Handover Gifts Museum and popular Macau Science Centre, just past the Cultural Centre.

Art Square is also surfaced with traditional Portuguese tiles which is nice to see. There is a fair pool statue near the Handover Museum. This is also where you can find contemporary forms of architecture in Macau, a stark contrast to the colonial Portuguese, traditional Chinese heritage buildings and the glitzy casinos around the city.
