Entertaining and highly recommend if you get a discount ticket!

Agree with other posters that this was entertaining, especially with kids. Costumes were amazing, sound and lights were amazing and many of the performers individually were amazing. We loved the acrobatics & ballet. The script however was hard to follow and the story was random in parts - guess thats what you get for cramming the whole Monkey King story into 70 mins. I recommend this as evening fun, only if you get the discount tickets! Otherwise go spend you big bucks on The House of Dancing Water!

Entertaining and amusing

The show is professionally built with a lot of show and dance interludes. The highlight of the show were the motorcross drivers in a ball, where up to 5 drivers drove at the same time in rapid speed.
In the show also several (Chinese) spectators were asked on stage and had to be made a fool of there. It is therefore advisable not to sit so much at the edges of the rows unless you love to be made a clown.
Throughout the show the music was 20 decibels too loud for my taste. Altogether an enjoyable evening of 70 minutes with the possibility to be photographed with the stars.

Two thumbs up for Monkey King!

Great production for kids and family. I thought it was much better than circus de solei in Hong Kong this year. Better costumes, story, acrobatic choreography and just more entertaining!

House of dancing water is a must also!

A jumbled mess, but see it if you can get cut-price tix

It’s a shambles, but component parts of it are excellent, and hence the four-star rating.

First, the performers are uniformly good. Second: the costume design is awesome. Third: the lighting and video design is second to none.

To the not so good. The blend of circus skills and narrative is not well-handled (I admit that it is very hard to pull off). The subtitles were a help to understanding the story... if you could see them. Unfortunately we were in the second row, and had to lean right back to get a glimpse of them. Hint: do not sit in the first ten rows of the auditorium. And too much of the Monkey King story was jammed into 80 minutes. Don’t. Just don’t.

And finally, placing action in the auditorium is a novel approach to the theatre if used sparingly and with good reason. Some of the in-house action in this production (such as the introduction of Pigsy) just left us scratching our heads as to what it was the Director was trying to achieve.

I would recommend this production, but not at full price. We enjoyed it, but did not feel that we got value for money. As for the claim that the production cost $300m to make... I’d love to see the auditor’s report on how that number was arrived at!

Expected More.....
Jul 2018 • Family
Without doubt the performers have talent, but they are sadly let down by the stage and challenging storyline.

Unlike other shows, there’s a need to have a script, which in this case detracts, because the words (English and Chinese) appear well above the stage, resulting in you needing to constantly look away from the stage. Even with the subtitles however, the show was confusing at best and in parts just strange.

Having seen this shows advertising for a while now, I thought it was about time I went to see it. I guess my expectations were high, given the cost to put on the production and years in the planning. I bought VVIP tickets, but quite frankly it was a waste of money (all seats are the same) and you can see just as much from any other seat.

Sadly for the performers, most people were leaving before the end of the show, which was just awkward.

Finally if you’re getting a bus back to another hotel, don’t hang around as you have about 4 minutes before the last bus leaves (21:30!)

One of the BEST Production on a Grand Stage
Jun 2018 • Couples
Just catch this show at the Sands Theater. It is absolutely and worth every single cent!

We bought the VIP tickets as there is a very good promo going on right now. Our sests have a very good view of the stage and we were up close and personal with the performers during the 70min show.

Every single minute is exciting and you can feel the adrenaline running through your body with the stunts, acrobats and other acts of strength and contortions.

My family members and i made a lot of oooh and aahs throughout the show and enjoyed the 3D video mapping as well as all the other fascinating props that was executed throughout the show.

It's hard to describe beyond words and you have to catch the show live to immerse in the action of lights, color, sound and video.

This show took 8 years to produce and is a USD300 Million production with crews from Beijing Troupe as well as from other countries as well. Saw a couple performing whom I believe is from Europe. There were about 5 monkey kings in the show and a giant tortoise and a giant Buddha palm.

I'm not sure when will the production end but do catch it if you are in Macau. They change some of the stories and acts from time to time so it will always be refreshing and fresh. At this moment the show is scheduled daily except Thur days.

Catch it while it is still showing and i'll definitely be back to watch it again.

We were staying in Sheraton and the theater was in the same building. Finally decided to watch this show after numerous time visiting Macau and was not disappointed at all with the show. Thoroughly enjoyed it and thought that it was worth the money. Performance was great and the one that really was impressive was the stage decoration/production set. It was grand and very colorful. Definitely a must watch if you happen to be in Macau.
