About
This delightful nature reserve forms part of the Ballaugh Curraghs, the Island's largest wetland. Here you will find hay meadow, grassland, curragh (willow scrub), woodland and bog habitats. This site is famous for its wildflower meadows with thousands of orchids from May to July. Level paths, boardwalks and a bird hide help you see a variety of wildlife including curlews, hen harriers and more.

A well planned and thought out place to visit.
It is peaceful and the hide is a great place to see a wallaby.

The walk to the hide is easy and planned for wheelchair users.

It is a beautiful place that is a hidden gem.

Lovely Nature Reserve.

A bit quiet today (August). I would love to come here maybe in the spring.
Lots of butterflies.
We did see a wallaby which made our day. They're not small!!

Lovely small reserve with orchids and wild flowers. Were lucky to see two wallabies, cross the boardwalk right in front of us.

At one wth nature

We stay close to this reserve and love to walk down there in an evening when the wallabies are more visible. It's also good for birds and the odd hare. This year we were just right for the orchids and although we missed the organised orchid walk, we walked the trail around the meadow, where there's a profusion of various flowers including orchids. At the end of the boardwalk is a two tier hide.

A lovely couple of hours walking through this very interesting nature reserve. I would recommend it , lots of wildlife to see and unusual surroundings that end in a bird hide very well done.
