This beautiful castle and surrounding area is so worth a visit when in Ibiza Town. Free to enter, the lanes leading to the top are not too steep and it is worth the trek for the magnificent views out to sea and over the town. Restoration work is going on along one of its aspects but this did not deter from a very enjoyable time.

Castell d'Eivissa is the remains of the castle located in the old town of Ibiza (called Dalt Vila). Nowadays, you can not see the castle, but you can see some parts of them like walls, gates and to enter to the old town and bastions, which nowadays are very nice lookouts. It is very nice to walk, relax (specially if you visit the town in winter), learn about the history of this city and enjoy with the views from the bastions.

This castle in the dalt vila region or the old town is a must visit when in Ibiza. There are quite a few steps to the top and the narrow lanes but is worth the effort. Views from the top are simply amazing. Sunset times could be ideal. Few shops around the lanes welcome the guests. Only setback is no cover for unexpected rains.

Breathtaking- not literally! A mix of tradition and cosmopolitan feel, crowded but you had room to breath. It was the perfect romantic walk. Hint: There is always more to see, twice we almost ended our walk by accident. Reach the top to the clock, come back from the other side at the port, end in an amazing luxurious plaza

This is the historical side of Ibiza, the old town within the castle. Can't miss that, you’ll see it from every part of the town, easy to get to it and free
For those that are not there only for fun and summer thrill this is a must. I was there mid-February, the town was quiet and relaxed before the spring break and summer madness, perfect time to visit.
Topical narrow, cobbled stone streets going up to the cathedral and the upper terraces with wonder view.
Most shops and pubs were closed but again, it didn’t bother me, take your time, this is worth spending the whole afternoon.

When in Ibiza Town a trip up to the Castle is a must. It will take you a while as the walk way does wind around, however this year there were a couple of new short cuts as they are renovating the whole castle. The views from the top are fantastic and there are plenty of bars and cafes en-route up and down to quench your thirst and hunger on hot days. Get off you backside and go explore

While in Ibiza last summer we stumbled upon a castle like structure built into one of the hills there. If you go to Old Ibiza Town you can get to it. The entrance looks is a draw bridge, and once you enter you will see that the castle itself has all these little homes built into it - very quaint.
If you can find your way through the winding cobble streets, there is a ramp at the top of the castle, with the most amazing city views.
I highly recommend going to see this. Its about the only site seeing we did when we were there and its a nice esacpe from the clubs and beaches.

This is a must, don't make the same mistake I did and wear sandels with no grip on the sole as it's very steep and windy and can be slippy on the stones. Lots of lovely little bars and some stunning restaurants as you go in from the Old Town. We went during the day but a friend of mine suggested that the evening would be better as it's all lit up. There are so many little pathways to follow but make sure you stop at points and take in the views, it's fabulous. How did they get the cranes up the top????

We stopped at Ibiza on our cruise in May. We're not party people, so the club life that Ibiza is known for didn't appeal to us. And spending the day at a beach seems a waste when vising somewhere you've never been before. We always look for what's unique in the area to vist. A self walking tour of the town and particularly the castle was perfect. It's very impressive. Don;t miss it!
Then stop and have some Sangria at a local cafe.

Es buena idea alquilar por dos o tres días un auto para recorrer la Isla, hay muchos problemas para aparcar?

I do not speak spanish, but I give you the answer in English.
During mid- & low season it should not be a problem to get around with a car. Parking outside the cities/countryside is then no problem. In the Cities a bit more full. High season July/August is not recommended! Far too crowded.

Hello, I am planning to visit Ibiza in October 2016. Are there any days / times wherein the Castle will be closed to tourists? Are we required to buy tickets? if so, how much would each cost? Appreciate your advice.
