No matter what one thought of this place, an important part of Ibiza's gay nightlife has been resigned to history! This shocking turn of events was the result of the near-derelict building opposite, being transformed into luxury apartments & the owners clubbing together to buy the club & close it because of late-night noise & disruption.
Well, whatever, yet another change in Ibiza for the worst!
Thankfully, all is not lost as the proprietors of Mona Lisa have reopened 'Lola's' to the accompiament of dancing in the streets! So this is where we can go with no entrance charge & drinks at normal prices!
GOODBYE ANFORA! We loved you, hated you, but you will never be forgotten!

Well, here we are darlings! The only place to be if you are of that persuasion! Or not! It doesn't matter as long as you are gay-friendly, you will be welcomed here! This disco is the only place to finish up after a night on the town after the gay bars on the Callé de Virgen! There are many different attractions on different nights, one of the most popular, is Thursday when the music is the best from the 70's & 80's. Situated up in the Dalt Vila (High Town) it's a trek, but well worth the effort! A typical entrance price is 15€ + you get a ticket for a drink. The shows are staged on the ground floor in a cave! Upstairs there's a dark room (MEN ONLY!) & a very popular bar.
Anfora has seen it all & will continue to do so as long as the gay crowd & their followers come to Ibiza & be outrageous!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

So it is goodbye to the anfora. I have such fond memories of this place, often arriving direct from the airport, leaving my bag with Gina at the cenit hotel (and that hotel's best days are also over too after my last visit there in sept 2016) and heading straight to the anfora. Over the years I have met the owner, and staff and the customers and have had some incredible experiences, culminating in my final visit there in September 2015, where, on my last night on the island I met a nice guy there and spent my final morning on his rooftop while he slept downstairs and I took some beautiful shots of the port, dalt villa, and the old town before I left to pack.
I won't forget the anfora and even though I had no idea it was to close at that time, i did have a sinking feeling that I might not return there. My recent visit to the old town and figuretes in sept 2016, has made me realise that this part of town is no longer the same now. Adios Anfora.

So sad to be honest I remember going for the first time back in1999 I had a great and came back a few yrs later and came back this yr to find out it’s gone what a shame was looking forward to to s cheaper night out than to super clubs I can’t believe it’s gone I’m very disappointed and sad . I hope someone brings it back to life it was a good little club and you could bring your female friends too who had a good time I guess it’s end of a era what a shame I hope someone reads this and thinks let’s get this club up and running again .

This was a great club in the late 80's, 90's & early 2000's it was always busy upstairs and down full to the rafters had some of our best nights there.
It all changed the last few times I went very few people there don't no what happened.
I put it down to the whole gay scene changing like London everywhere has closed and Ibiza becoming very expensive and maybe cheaper places for people to go.
I was very lucky to experience Ibiza through the years along with thousands of others,
It's changed but I will always go there.

I come to Ibiza for almost 20 years. The 1st 10 years this disco was always full and great atmosphere. Always long waiting rows at the entrance. Had great times here, came here every day. The last years every time it's more expensive and less people. Hope we can let revive the old days again, a good commercial tip at the owners: ask less entrance fee and less consumption prices (now I've paid 6 euro for a cola, ridiculous, you will get more people then who will consume more, at the end you'll get a higher turnover!!! and everybody will be happy. XXX I only went once this year. Greetings from a former good client.

Been going here for 17 years, suspect it now has new owners that are trying to revive it. They now have a nightly parade of hot guys through the streets like the big clubs and a few dancers/gogo's and I guess the price rise is to pay for that. Always used to be admission was same price as a drink, it's now over double even with a promo wrist band.
Went on a Saturday night, was very quiet, upstairs/darkroom area has been altered, no more avery. A friend ;) told me the darkroom stayed empty all night. Such a shame, I remember when it used to be packed out.
This place seems to think because it's the only gay in they can charge what they want. Paid it once, didn't return.

I was extremely disappointed with this club. Expensive -£20e entry every night, expensive drinks, absolutely no atmosphere and empty most nights. The gogo dancers looked more bored than the clubbers and had no life in them at all. The only good night was Thursday when it was relatively busy - don't bother on any other night. Saturday night had less than 40 people in! Totally agree with previous reviews - Mgt have ruined this club.

Maybe visiting in the tail end of season had something to do with the underwhelming ambience of this once fun club. We paid 25 euros to enter and the place was only mildly busy between the hours of 0300 and 0400. The entry price is disgraceful when you consider for another 10 euro's you could be in a superclub. If savvy get yourself on the guestlists for Matinee, Amnesia and La Troya by visiting MAD BAR, the helpful bar boys will add your name. We got free entry to these clubs and only parted cash when visiting Anfora. I dont want to suggest that any Gay traveller steers clear as I would hate to see this stalwart gay disco fold, however.....message to managers.....you gotta pull work hard to stop the rot. Review door prices, review show, DJ and appearance of this once fun club
