    Well-Functioning Ferry Port
We left and returned to this port on our trip to Formentera and everything functioned very well. Lots of people around and the traffic flowed smoothly. Lots of cabs for our ride to the airport. Easy drop-off from our cab. The cruise ships can cause some congestion, but this port can handle.

    Beautiful...Get your camera ready
If you are on a cruise, be sure to be up and ready to enter this port. It is beautiful. The water...The yachts...The buildings...The shops. I know that this is a party city but, my goodness, don't skip it because of that. It has a lot to offer if nothing more than its beauty.

    Wonderful unexpected shopping area
We stopped off on a cruise and the cruise company had not been good at providing accessible shuttle buses, so we spotted the marina and walked/wheeled there (I’m a wheelchair user). I thought I was just going to see boats, but then spotted Gucci, Louis Vuitton, St Laurent, Dior, Dolce and Gabbana - I thought I was in heaven and there is a lovely bar lounge there too. What a find and there were some amazing yachts there too. And a little supermarket which sold great ice lollies -yes I did buy a bag!

Puerto de Ibiza is the port of the main city in the Ibiza Island. It is a typical leisure port with the possibility to catch some ships to Formentera, which is close to Ibiza. I was walking around the promenade in january and see some different boats and ships. It is ok.

This is a busy ferry port. There are also many large and beautiful private yachts moored there. We walked along the waterfront several times, and each day there were different vessels docked.

If you want to see some upmarket yachts a walk by the waterfront will not disappoint. They areprobably the main attraction unless you count Pacha nearby. There are plenty of waterfront restaurants and bars to visit and watch the world go by,

The Port of Ibiza is a nice-looking port that has numerous shopping, cafes, lounges and restaurants. There are some high-end yachts docked at the port, worth a visit for sure. It is also a short walk to the Castle of Ibiza. I only spent the evening and dinner near the port during my three-night stay in Ibiza.

Until very recently, all of the ferry ships - to Barcelona, Valencia. Denia and Palma de Mallorca berthed right in Town in the harbour, by the historic La Marina area... and likewise almost all of the cruise liners did the same but for the very biggest which would anchor offshore and little tenders would shuttle to-and-forth between ship and harbour. Now, after spending millions of euros on dredging and the construction of an extended harbour arm on the opposite side of the harbour beyond the Marina Botafoch, these ships no longer berth in Town itself.

Whereas in the past you could just step on or off the ferry right in the Town, as a foot passenger you are incredibly inconvenienced now as you are virtually dependent on taking a taxi... often with a long wait or have a very long and not very pedestrian-friendly walk around the harbour into Town... something like 45 minutes,,, unless you are very organised and check out the infrequent bus service.... all with your luggage.
If you are on a cruise liner docking at Ibiza (except for a couple of top end luxury small liners} you can no longer, for the same reasons, just step on or off your ship to and from the Town, as in the past. You now have to take a transfer bus, often involving queueing and waiting around, for trips between the Town and the ship.which most cruise companies make a hefty charge for as they also do, of course, for excursions which make them money but which deprives the passengers through the disincentive of convenience and easy access, from making an easy trip into the Town. Of course, there remains the option of a good 45 minute walk in each direction in the heat of summer! Likewise, the businesses in the Town... the shops. bars and restaurants, who previously would have benefited from the easy embarkation and disembarkation right in the Town, are now worse off with reduced passenger numbers accessing the Town.
There is, apparently, a plan to construct a proper terminal building with facilities but of course, as happens so often with Ibiza's grandiose projects, the full implications of this unnecessary project has not been thought through and has been constructed piecemeal .Had a fully operational terminal been constructed, had a properly developed pedestrian and even an efficient tram route around the harbour been made to connect with the Town... as a complete project, there may have been some logic to the new port project... but no, none of this... and up to now there is a ghastly tent passing as a terminal building... and that is all!
If this is not enough of a criticism, there is more. There are so few ships using the new port. There are no increased number of passenger ships now as there were when they came into the Town so why all the upheaval? If it is for the cruise liners, these now hardly benefit the island because of the inconveniences described above and at no point, even in the height of summer are there so many ships that the original port in Town couldn't absorb... and of course, the cruise liners only visit during the summer season so the extended docking provision is a total waste of money for half the year when no cruise liners visit.
Finally, there is the 'aesthetic' reason or put another way, another aspect of the tourist attraction which is the port area of Ibiza Town. It really was a splendid sight to see the ships docked right in Town, towering over the harbour-front and gave a 'busy' interesting and varied picture to the area with all the to-ing and fro-ing of the ships, The area has now been denuded of its 'raison d'etre' and is rather less interesting as a consequence unless the dream is to fill the vacuum created by attracting the high fee-paying yachts of the super-rich.
Meanwhile, the tourists, the ferry passengers and the cruise passengers miss out, as do the Town's businesses. A crazy, disappointing and retrograde development?

This is a nice large port to wander around.

There are many expensive yachts on display, together with the ferries that run to adjoining islands. There always appears to be something coming or going.

There are a large selection of shops and bars/restaurants on the other side of the road to chillax at and watch the maritime traffic.

We often sat in the port area watching the numerous boats, yachts and ferries coming and going during our short trip to Ibiza this August. You can sit in the many bars or have a cheaper/free seat where the ferries come in! The ferries are mainly going to Formentera - which there seemed to be at least 4 different ones going every 15 minutes!
We did sit under the parasols of the Pacha bar as this had a welcome cold spray. We bought 2 largers and a lemonda and it was under 10euros, which you can't get in British tourist places!
The huge motor boats/yacht of all sizes and colours are amazing to look at, some owned by the famous and obviously rich! This is the start of the old town up to the castle/cathedral - a big walk up to the top that can be tricky with slippery surface, but the view at the top amazing, or you can go window shopping into the more modern side of the town from here. The port is a beautiful place of the island that has very considerate drivers as there are so many Zebra crossings where the patient motorists kindly stop for the pedestrians to cross.

The port and marina are full of beautiful boats and immaculately clean, however, when we got off the ferry and visited a popular fast food restaurant, we saw a man trying to pickpocket a lady's handbag. My husband went over to the lady and told her what the man had tried to do and the man ran away. This spoiled our day as we were constantly on guard then throughout the day. My advice is wear a money belt under your clothes and don't take too much money with you!

Called into this port and was surprised how nice it was. Plenty of boats all different sizes around the port and there were plenty of restaurants and bars. It had a nice feel to it. Also there were plenty of souvenir shops about. Nice place to visit.
