Nature fantastic. Mankind horrible. From second one the people in front of us started to hold their camera above them so we couldn't see anything in front of us. (Yes they did it for the complete 2 hours) Instead of enjoying the surrounding almost everyone...More

Visit this place preferable early morning (Boats starts at 8am) to avoid crowds. The bad thing on this area is that the Capitan of the boat once you are in the middle of the tour, ask for gratuities in a very bizarre way. I did...More

We went to Chiapas de Corzo, had lunch on the riverfront and then took the 2.5 hour boat tour. Riverfront was loud and high pressure. The boats are crowded. The canyon is beautiful but I would have been satisfied with a much shorter jaunt. I...More

It’s really gorgeus. Very impressing. We feel very small looking at it, but, unfortunately, I was also very impressed by the huge amount of plastic botles and plastic garbage floting in the river. Very sad...I’m writing this review hoping that the population, tourist agencies and...More

This tour is worth the trip! You can either book through an agent or if you have a car just go straight there. I can't remember what we paid but I think it was around $200 pesos? The canyon is spectacular! If you don't speak...More

This is really a must when you are in the neighbourhood. We took the 2 hour boat trip which costed 230 pesos. We went with Embarcadero cahuare, which was a good idea because popular and the boats are quickly filled up. In our boat we...More

Spectacular canyon views - better than expected. Saw crocodiles, baby crocodiles, howler monkeys, various birds. Waterfalls, one unusual one in particular. Wish they offered an English speaking guide though. You can buy snacks from a boat whilst on your boat before the return trip.

Cañón del Sumidero is a massive Mexican “grand canyon” north of Chiapa del Corzo. We took a 2-2½ hour speedboat ride down the Grijalva River to view the canyon. The pilot would gun down the river then cut the engine & let us view the...More

I want to take a boat ride through the canyon and also go to the lookout points. My plan is to get the boat ride there at the dock (not a prepackaged tour) but then how would I go to the lookout points? I imagine that you must drive between each point? Are there buses that drive to each lookout point? Or can I walk it? Or perhaps rent a car? If I do rent a car, is there a good place to park while on the boat ride?

I would just take the boat ride. It's part of all the tours that run from SCC, it's cheap, it's easy and the views are amazing. The walls of the canyon are so high in places that I can't imagine that there's an easy way of... More
