Beautiful views from castle.
We walked around outside the castle and debated if to pay and go in.
We decided not to as we thought it was expensive and was not convinced there was a lot to see.

Landeck is one of the larger towns in the Austrian Alps, and the Schloss (Castle) Landeck has played prominently in its history. The castle is easily walked to from town or is a short drive with ample parking if you go early. Admission is about $7 per person. There is a nice audio guided tour, which has some useful insights into the hard life that the people lived in Tyrol during the time the castle was inhabited by the royalty. There are some nice period farm implements as well as other items from the daily life of the people. The view from the tower on top is quite lovely.

The castle location and exterior appearance can be seen from many places in Landeck including from the passing trains. Its location and exterior are good to observe. Also the views from its location is equally nice. However, that is about it.

This town has a C&A something that we have not seen in the UK for many years. Good selection of small and large department stores, and all on the flat.

Historical place. An old structure now a museum.
Gives you the history of the region. This castle is right up a steep slope. A good viewing advantage in the days of old.

Usually ski in the area but bad weather meant a visit to the castle. Well worth the time. Good museum but the highlight was the mechanical Nativity scene that must have been lovingly put together. Well worth a visit.

The folk culture museum located in the castle (schloss) is well worth a visit. They have some amazing artifacts and make the stories of the region accessible and interesting through an audioguide.

We took a quick walk around Landeck and saw the castle, so we decided to hike up. Hanging out the window of one of the towers was a long braid with a bow, ostensibly Rapunzel's! We had a beer and enjoyed the incredible views. The castle had just closed, so we didn't get to tour, sadly. Perhaps next time!
