Well worth a visit if you are on the eastern shore of Lake Como
We climbed some steps from the piazza in front of the Church of St Nazarius and Celsus in Bellano in order to reach the entrance to the site. The cheaper ticket allows you to follow the walkway around the small gorge (the "Orrido") to the waterfall and back, which takes 15-20 minutes. We enjoyed hearing and seeing the rushing water and walking in the shade and mist. In fact, we paid extra to go on a guided visit to Ca' del Diavol, a small museum they have in the house with frescoes on site. (Several guided visits in English per day, at set times, are offered, each lasts about 40 minutes.) Children enjoyed video presentations about the gorge, the town of Bellano and its traditional festival, as well as virtual reality experience which takes you from the gorge to the sources of the Pioverna stream. Overall, an hour well spent. FAI (Italian national trust) members get a small discount on entry.

A must see while in Ballano
A most beautiful nature walk thru the gorge on a mostly level boardwalk. There are steps along the boardwalk with handrails. I'd rate the difficulty factor as easy to moderate. Well worth the small fee. A very relaxing and beautiful walk. The walk is at you own speed and can easily be accomplished in a hours time. I'd be very sorry if I'd been in Bellano and miss this.

    Nature Is Wonderful
Parking is difficult but find a place to park. Walk up the steps to the right of the Church and enter the door on the right. Admission was 5 euros per person for us. Scan your ticket and enjoy the walk. Absolutely breathtaking and beautiful. Enjoy your visit. Took us about 35 to 40 minutes from parking to get back to car. I found it to be worth the fee.

    Nature at its best
Definitely a must do if you are visiting Lake Como. Natural gorge and waterfalls in walking distance from the centre of Bellano. There are steps to the entrance and around the walkway through the gorge. It’s worth lingering to take in the magnificence of the surroundings,

Not stroller friendly, bring a carrier
We had read online that you can bring a stroller here, that is NOT the case. To be explicitly clear, you must have a carrier as not only are there cobble stone steps to get up to the ticket gate, the walkways are too narrow (and run up against jagged rocks) to make a stroller feasible under any circumstance. The canyon is absolutely beautiful and it’s totally worth a visit. Easiest to park by the waterfront and pay the few euros necessary for 90 minutes - 2 hours worth of parking. They do give tickets to those who fails to pay - we saw this here, in Bellagio, Lecco, etc…

Travelled from bellagio and paid to get in to see hardly nothing, walk took 5 mins and not even fully finished. Building work still going on. Disappointed they are charging when it’s not finished

Well worth the effort to visit this attraction.
I wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised by the rushing waters and the fun walking deck.
It only takes 1/2 an hour but well worth if you are in the area.

We were unsure of whether to visit this gorge or not after reading reviews. In the end we went for it. We are so glad that we did. I can understand that it would probably be very underwhelming if it was the middle of a heatwave. However, we visited it on a day where it had been raining pretty much non stop for 24 hrs plus a lot of rain in the weeks leading up to it. The gorge was flowing powerfully and very noisily!! It was a great way to spend a rainy afternoon on lake como. It looked amazing in these weather conditions. 3 euros entrance for a short walk over the gorge.

Getting there:

We caught the train to Bellano. When you come out of the train station on the platform 1 side turn right. A little further down that road you will begin to see signs for the Orrido (Gorge). Follow them! Only takes a 5 minute walk.

€3 per person for this little tourist attraction. A lovely walk into the Orrido gorge to see a beautiful waterfall at the far end. The gorge today is used for hydro electric power. There is a strange beauty in the industrial use of the water power in the gorge. Note that this is not a particularly long walk through the gorge and certainly not a day activity but was sufficient to keep us busy for a couple of hours!

If walking along thin wooden platforms while water rushes over rocks hundreds of feet below is your kind of thing then you'll absolutely love this. There are huge rocks overhanging the wee path too, and the way in is the same as the way out so you have to squeeze past a lot of folk. It's really beautiful and a unique attraction, but it's really small! It doesn't take long to reach the end, maybe about ten minutes (if that) and then you're kind of wandering about like "now what?" there's a wee cafe (although it was closed when we visited) and a few games for kids. Lots of very brave locals walking their dogs! I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this place but if you're in Bellano already then why not?

Nice waterfalls in a steep gorge. 4 euro, one way walk on a safe walkway. Peaceful and relaxing. Easy to find from Bellano; look for brown signs that say “ Orrido.”
