Visited in the Easter holidays. Was unsure we were in the right place after using Google maps to get there. Takes you to a carpark surrounded by buildings and a church (we actually went in the church too which is beautiful). Steps to the right of the gorge take you to the entrance. It's 5 euro per person to get in and you walk around wooden bridges with the gorges below. It's okay but nothing special and only takes about 10 mins to walk around. One section has a nice waterfall to see that flows into the gorges but that's about it.

Pioverna river and the Adda glacier
In the middle of the town, between the churches, there is an entrance to a narrow and deep ravine. We visited there during the Christmas season, and the natural beauty was illuminated by the symbols of the holiday. We arrived at 4 pm when it was getting dark and the beauty was perfect. It's amazing to see what water can do (Pioverna river and the Adda glacier) for 15 million years.
The route is not difficult. The depth is really impressive, even those with a fear of heights will be able to. The route takes about half an hour, and if you feel like sitting down with a cup of hot tea and cookies (if you brought them with you), there are benches at the end of the route. Enter through the lower gate and exit through the upper gate. Entrance fee €5 (as of December 2022).
You can combine the route with a morning tour of the town, arrive at the Orrido in the afternoon, and finish with a night tour. The whole city is illuminated with colorful lighting and holiday songs are played on the loudspeakers. Happy New Year.

Well worth the effort to visit this attraction.
I wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised by the rushing waters and the fun walking deck.
It only takes 1/2 an hour but well worth if you are in the area.

Travelled from bellagio and paid to get in to see hardly nothing, walk took 5 mins and not even fully finished. Building work still going on. Disappointed they are charging when it’s not finished

We had read the reviews and went with little expectation. We loved it. It was simple and the gorge was magnificent in how nature had created it, with powerful water flowing over the moulded rocks we enjoyed the 20 minutes in total to take photos looking down from the walkways. We also sat and enjoyed the sound of the water crashing down, and the cool fresh air it created.
It's five minutes walk from the Bellano train station, 3euro entry, the staff member takes pride in keeping the area and toilets clean and tidy, we noticed there had also been some recent raking of the stones as well.

We were unsure of whether to visit this gorge or not after reading reviews. In the end we went for it. We are so glad that we did. I can understand that it would probably be very underwhelming if it was the middle of a heatwave. However, we visited it on a day where it had been raining pretty much non stop for 24 hrs plus a lot of rain in the weeks leading up to it. The gorge was flowing powerfully and very noisily!! It was a great way to spend a rainy afternoon on lake como. It looked amazing in these weather conditions. 3 euros entrance for a short walk over the gorge.
Getting there:
We caught the train to Bellano. When you come out of the train station on the platform 1 side turn right. A little further down that road you will begin to see signs for the Orrido (Gorge). Follow them! Only takes a 5 minute walk.

€3 per person for this little tourist attraction. A lovely walk into the Orrido gorge to see a beautiful waterfall at the far end. The gorge today is used for hydro electric power. There is a strange beauty in the industrial use of the water power in the gorge. Note that this is not a particularly long walk through the gorge and certainly not a day activity but was sufficient to keep us busy for a couple of hours!

If walking along thin wooden platforms while water rushes over rocks hundreds of feet below is your kind of thing then you'll absolutely love this. There are huge rocks overhanging the wee path too, and the way in is the same as the way out so you have to squeeze past a lot of folk. It's really beautiful and a unique attraction, but it's really small! It doesn't take long to reach the end, maybe about ten minutes (if that) and then you're kind of wandering about like "now what?" there's a wee cafe (although it was closed when we visited) and a few games for kids. Lots of very brave locals walking their dogs! I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this place but if you're in Bellano already then why not?

Nice waterfalls in a steep gorge. 4 euro, one way walk on a safe walkway. Peaceful and relaxing. Easy to find from Bellano; look for brown signs that say “ Orrido.”

If you ever find yourself close to Bellano and searching for something to see but the lake, Orrido is the right place. We've seen there is a path to go by foot from Varenna and it should open nice views but regarding the age of my grandparents we've preferred a taxi (15 €) and the train back (4.20 €) for us three. The entrance fee of 2€ for seniors and 5€ adult seemed to be reasonable.
The whole walk takes not more than 30 min, but it welcomes you just to stay and to enjoy this alliance of nature and industry the last interfering very modestly, not spoiling the great views. A wonderful example of cooperation with nature for centuries and not killing it for a short time profit.

Stesso percorso andata e ritorno. Circa 15 minuti. È in progetto una parte da aprire.

We went in high season in August and didn’t have any trouble finding a parking spot in a nearby car park, although we did arrive at the opening time at 10am. You do have to pay for the parking so make sure you have change for the machine but it wasn’t too expensive.
