    Stunningly Italian Villa & Gardens.
When you buy a ticket they give you the location where their boat will collect you. The view is stunning as you approach the island. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. The gardens are lovely. You only get to see a couple of rooms in the villa but it’s soo beautiful from the outside. Unfortunately because of a wedding that day our wine & olive oil tasting was cut short which was rather annoying, but I did enjoy the trip.

Amazing - one of the best place we visited in Lake Garda
Excellent value for money to enjoy a boat ride and a group tour around this fantastic island and villa. Our tour guide made the visit exciting and interesting, she had such an in depth knowledge of the island, villa, the family that lives there and its history. Even though the island is small there is so much to see there including the beautiful gardens, and the wine and olive oil tasting topped it all off. Truly a breathtaking place.

    Absolutely spectacular
I got married here in September 2023 and it was straight out of a fairy tale. We surprised our guests by chartering boats here from Gardone Riviera for the ceremony. The venue is spectacular, I could just hear the gasps from our guests as the boat turned the corner and headed to the Island’s dock. The villa, gardens, everything is immaculately maintained. And it’s just beautiful. Whether you are considering a wedding or just visiting the island, I highly recommend it if you are in the Garda area.

Very unfortunate, but we came there to see the palace and not the garden. The guide was talking only about the flower names and how known they are in Italy. This information was very useless for us since we came there for the architecture.
The time that we actually got to spend in the palace was about 15 min only. And It wasn't even the main room or anything, just a long hallway till we reach the balcony. At the balcony we got about 5 minutes, which is just ridiculous, because we also had to drink the wine in 5 minutes. We felt like dogs that are unwelcome there. The price that we paid does not go along how we were treated.

It was very painful, because the palace is amazingly beautiful.

The boat ride already takes 30 minutes each way to get to the island. It was so hot and with the sun right above us, we were sweating in the boat behind the windows. The tour stretched for 2 hours with our guide when we could have done it in 30 minutes. And there wasn't much to see. It was disappointing and not worth the money..

A pure gem nestled in the crystal clear waters of Lake Garda. Run by the Cavazza family, with immense passion and incredible care of such a beautiful ancient villa and island. A magical venue for a fairytale wedding! I would highly recommend a tour if you are in the area. 5 stars!

We really enjoyed our visit to Isola del Garda- the house and the island were beautiful. Our guide was first class and told us lots of interesting facts. A very peaceful place. Loved it - we want to live there!!!

We booked from the travel agency/estate agent on the front in Garda and caught the private boat from near the ferry terminus.

We booked this trip directly with the island by E-mail . It was supposed to be a boat trip from Sirmione on Monday 14th September 2015. The instructions were to meet at Piazza Castello, 10 minutes before the departure time of 3.00pm, and the name of a boat company was given. There is a boat jetty at The end of this piazza and we waited here for 45 minutes, with several visits back to the piazza to see if there was anyone waiting for us there and no-one turned up! We phoned 2 of the numbers given and got recorded messages in Italian, which we did not understand. The (very small) map we were also e-mailed just showed the outline of the Sirmione peninsular with a red dot about half-way down on the west side - no street names or directions. I assume we were not at the correct dot but this is the fault of the directions we were given. I was very disappointed but also relieved that we had not paid in advance for this trip. If you are also wishing to do this visit make sure you know exactly where you should be picked up .

Isola del Garda is situated in the southwest area of Lake Garda just off the Gulf of Salo. It is the biggest island on the lake and is part of the San Felice del Benaco commune. There is a varied history to this beautiful island ranging from Roman times, Pirate activity and a Franciscan monastery. Later it was used as a border fortification and as a residential villa. The island is privately owned by the Borghese Cavazza family now and during March to September it is open to the public for limited visits. There are various ports around the lake which have dedicated days to visit the island. We went from Sirmione which departs on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon at around 15-15 pm to 15-30 pm. The adult fares vary depending which port you use. We payed 32 euros each which sounds quite expensive for a 3-hour trip but do not be put off as this visit is well worth the money in my opinion. As you approach the island you get your first view of the villa which is quite breath-taking. When we arrived we were greeted by one of the owners who took the English speaking group on the tour. We felt very privileged to be guided by one of the Cavazza family and the information and detailed history regarding the villa, family and grounds provided by her was excellent. The villa and gardens are beautiful and even during September there was much to see. Part of the horticultural layout reminded me of an English cottage garden, which we later found out was indeed the case as the mother of the Cavazza family is indeed English. As we toured the garden we were then guided to the villa and were shown around a couple of rooms inside the house. What you must remember is that the family still live in the Villa and some rooms remain private. After the tour we were shown to a beautiful balcony area which was laid out with tables which provided fresh olives, local made cheese, crusty bread with olive oil and balsamic. This was accompanied by soft drinks, water and a lovely rose wine which is produced by the family if you wished to indulge in an alcoholic beverage. After about 25 minutes the tour concluded with a walk around the lower lake garden and then back to the jetty to catch our return speedboat. The tour in my humble opinion was quite magical and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Borghese Cavazza family for sharing their beautiful island with us and I would definitely return again to this jewel on Lake Garda.

We visited Isola del Garda from Bardolino on our recent holiday. You are picked up in a smart motor launch and whisked off on the half hour crossing to the island. Our (quite large) group was split into three to accommodate different languages. Our English speaking guide was Alberta, one of the seven sisters and brothers who now own the island. The tour was leisurely and informative. The place is spectacular, both house and garden. The house is very beautiful and mainly Venetian in style whilst the gardens are a charming mix of Italian formal and English informal. About half way through the tour, there is a break for wine and snacks on the glorious terrace of the tower with stunning views across the lake. You can also buy postcards if you like and olive oil from the families olive groves. Alberta has even written a book about the place that you can also purchase! The weather was superb when we visited and it was like being in paradise. You don't see much of the interior of the house but this place is all about the grounds and they are amazing.

The whole thing takes about 3 hours including the boat transfers and whilst I enjoyed the whole thing, I found the second half (around the lower garden) slightly less interesting than the first which focuses on the area around the house. Alberta was charming and informative and I would highly recommend visiting Isola del Garda. Its a little pricey but I think its worth it.

We have just returned to UK after a holiday on Lake Garda. Prior to our arrival I made a booking to visit Isola Del Garda on 19 September. On the day of our visit the weather was poor but this did little to spoil the day.
On arrival we were met by our English speaking guide, Giulia Bosetti who was first class. Despite the weather she was very enthusiastic and explained the Family History and that of the house. All her information was clearly presented and she obviously enjoys her work. All in all a very enjoyable and informative trip. If you are in the area do not miss the chance to see this fascinating place.
