Giacomo was our guide on a trip up Etna on October 5th 2021. One of the best guides we have ever had anywhere. Extremely knowledgeable, great communicator, excellent English and good fun.

This was an amazing experience. Although I travelled solo, I took this excursion with two other people who were staying at the same accommodation.
We were picked up by our guide, Alfio, who was very welcoming and friendly. During the whole trip he explained us so much and told us a lot about not only Mount Etna but as well Sicily’s history. I could have spent several days with him and not get bored.
We went to see several places (cave, lava flow of 2002, the skistation, Mt Satorius,...) with the help of the great driving skills of our guide in the 4x4.
Very professional, very friendly, just a great experience in every way!
Thank you Alfio!

Yesterday we went together with Alfio and our family on a trip to Mt Etna. What a perfect day! Off road to places one normally won’t get. Views that were magnificent, impactfull and respectfull. Alfio showed us everything and answered all our questions on the vulcano, on flora on the wildlife but also on Sicily. We have done quite some guided tours in our lives but Alfio can be ranked in the top 3 if not number 1.

Our tour guide Giacomo picked us up in his 4 x 4 at 0815 from our hotel and took us on a fantastic tour of discovery, history and amazing landscapes. Giacomo had an infectious love for Etna and his work, he was knowledgeable, humorous and very personable. We started at a small chapel on the site of two lava flows in the 1970’s and then went onto see a lava cave at Grotta die Ladroni. We then had a coffee stop where we had amazing views of Etna which was having activity with smoke billowing from three craters. There wasn’t a cloud in site at the time so we had a perfect view of this activity. Onward to an hour long walk at Monti Sartorius with landscapes that were utterly incredible. We then visited a couple of other areas of interest before stopping for lunch at Benvenuti al Refugio Ragabo, a very nice lunch was had. We spent the afternoon primarily at the Gole Alcantara geological park. We were back at our hotel by 1700.
This was a fantastic day tour made all the better thanks to Giacomo. Highly recommended.

We had the most fantastic tour yesterday 21-8/19 with the best guide ever (Giacomo Strazzeri) from this company
Giacomo knowledge and passion for his subject was infectious. You will learn and experience the gas Itai game history, geology , and changing faces of this marvel.

Make sure you visit the ice caves (Grotto dei Ladeoni)

We were fortunate to spend a few hours trekking on top of the lava flows from 1865 and 2002 and witness the lava bombs and fake gold and silver.

The scenery is truly incredible and a bucket list experience for everyone . The wine farm at Murgo perfect way to finish things off - but leave specs for the 4 courses and bubbly

Giacomo - you a star and we hope to return

We got picked up by our guide Giacamo with a Land Rover at 8.30am for a 1/2 day Etna tour in a small group of 8 people. We knew instantly it would be a great trip: he was very friendly, passionate and knowledgeable; not just about Etna, but about the area in general. Up Etna we had a good walk and he showed us and explained to us lots of stuff inc. about crators, lava flows, caves etc etc. It really was great, one of the best guides and tours we have ever had :-) THANK YOU Giacamo. We booked our Etna Tour with Etnalacantara. Our guide Giacomo picked us up at our hotel. He told us a lot about Sicily and of course the Etna. He took us to various places on the volcano to show us lava caves, craters and lava fields. Giacomo told us everything we needed to know. He is very passionate and knowledgeable about the Etna. We had a great day!

Spending a day driving around a millennia old volcano being informed by someone as passionate and knowledgeable as our tour guide Giacomo was a wonderful experience. As much as he shared what he knew about this amazing place to us, he was also very personable, making our day even more special. Surely the best way to learn about this place and to have a great day out in the meantime.

We had a half day tour by 4x4. The guide, Alfio, was so knowledgeable and informative that this made the experience very special. He had a great sense of humour and was very welcoming. If in Sicily again we would certainly repeat this tour - or a similar one with Etnalcantara.

We were visiting Messina for a day during a cruise and pre-arranged a private tour to Mt Etna. We were met at the port by Alfio who escorted us to his clean and comfortable vehicle. We headed straight to Mt Etna but ran into traffic because of an accident further along. Alfio kept is cool and gave us a lot of information about the local area and history of Sicily while we waited.

We stopped at a village for refreshments and Alfio arranged drinks, cannoli and gelato for our family.

On our ascent of Mt Etna we stopped at several places along the way and Alfio was generous with his knowledge of the various eruptions. We did a short but steep hike to the top of a side crater and Alfio was very patient with the slowest member of the family (myself). The view was well worth the effort, the steep walk back down was challenging but, once again, we took it slowly for my benefit.

We had a quick lunch stop before heading back down towards the Alcantara Gorges. Due to the earlier delay in traffic we didn't have time to go down into the gorge but appreciated the view from above.

We were delivered back to the ship on time and the whole family agreed that this tour was money well spent and a fabulous day out.
